    Yes I rang the FAO today and they said the cert was there and had just been passed and signed they said it was ready to be posted out, so I suggested collecting it because I needed to buy ammunition to carry out my work, They said that as a rule they do not allow the collection of certificates but on this occasion they would do it as a one off. I appreciated the decision by them and collected the cert tonight and went straight to the gun shop for ammo. So at last I have the conditions lifted ( I did however have to prove my knowledge and experience to the department ) This inter

    Well I admire your skills here. I have honestly only found a .22 to be accurate at max 90 yards and thats pushing it ( constant zero I am on about ) I zero at 60 to be safe and know that the rifle will not maim your kill. I would say the at 120 yards you're pushing a 22 at its extremes. But if you are a true expert marksman you will know better than me and know where the bullet is going Regards

    I think FLATTOP has said it all. You can "try" and hurry them up by phoning them but this might be seen as you been a pain in the ass so they might put your application at the bottom of the pile. Sometimes its better to wait ! to be impatient can p1ss them off..................... Regards

    I must admit Deker this is sound advice. as you say 9 out of 10 plod will not have a clue but this is the situation I am in with this license amendment at this time. Wouldn't you think the system would be updated so all police patrolling at night / day were made aware of current legislation and by-laws.. it seems like we have to educate our FLO to the procedures they have to follow in the event they stop someone in this scenario !!!!!     makes sense deker..... Funny you mention the bit about "kept a copy of your certificate before you sent it off" as it happens I mentioned that to them as well. I was told it would show the words FAKE across the cert and this was not really a good thing to do and if I did copy it I was to destroy it asap once I get the amended cert through. I honestly took it as if they did not want the cert copied ( although this was never directly said to me ) So I did not copy it. ( go on call me a fool, I can handle it....lol ) Thanks

    Thanks SportingShooter Thats about my thoughts as well !!!!!!!!!! I think I was hoping for a miracle answer but yea I suppose thats about the bottom line. They did say that all us FAC holders are on Central computer and in the event of a spot check that it would show that I was a license holder. But as you say, It might create problems and give me the run around to get confiscated guns back. Thanks again mate

    Hi, Licensed with Northumbria Police I recently asked for the restriction to be lifted from on land deemed suitable by the chief officer of police for the area where the land is situated and over which the holder has lawful authority to shoot. to any land on which you have lawful permission from the landowner and you deem suitable. ( or words to the effect ) I have been told that there is no such thing as an open cert ( I know lets not get into this one ) This was not my first license and to be honest I never noticed the condition until I went to buy rounds and I spotted it.     And also please understand that as you read text that has been typed on here, you can not see the smiles or frowns on faces of posters so please do not jump on the defensive to quickly, be diplomatic and try to understand.     I agree. We should all work together and really be on the same side. "But then the arguments begin on here ( and every other hunting forum ) and p1ss everyone off." Look if this sport is going to make it we should all help and at least be on the same side. I can see where Ian is coming from wanting to dump this, some posts are simply "point proving heathens" trying to make themselves look good. But we really need to stick together and unite.     Just bought a new CZ .22 bolt action with synthetic stock and black 16" barrel. got 1, 5 shot mag and 2, 10 shot mags as spares and never had any bother YET. stuck about 300 through it the other night and ( no probs ) but reading this thread is making me paranoid. Cheers

    I have tried many and wasted a lot of money. I will say go for the Canon 40d mate Its the start of the "pro" range and cheaper than the 5d. The 40 d does all what you want and easy to use on manual mode. Like someone said the lenses are a different matter !!!! I have a range of many and only really use a couple. Tell us what you decide.
