  1. Personally i wouldnt leave a pheasant there, firstly it could attract a fox, scent may stop ferret coming out second the ferret may try to drag it back down the warren and block its self in again, just leave the box there without the pheasant.
  2. Alec i could give you a phone number depends where you are, i get £1 gutted, no as good as bignoel i know.
  3. yeah i undersand why it works but in which direction does the net need to be slack? Height and length.
  4. Trouble it stops toooooooooo soon
  5. Sorry mate could'nt read your post kept getting distracted by your avatar
  6. Also drill the peg and threadle the cord through otherwise there's a chance it will come away from the peg.
  7. Dont use plastic cable ties they will snag your nets.
  8. Thanks for all the replies chaps, i've been ferreting about 15 years now sometimes using collars other times not , i normally put the strap through the buckle first, never normally have problems other than wriggling but this one i held her by the scruff and she still managed to get her head round to bite. Have been handling her daily but as said stopped the nipping even since she has been ok, just the one off i hope.
  9. Thanks for the reply chaps.I can't make the hole larger as its a chain link and i would'nt want to lose the permission through damaging property. Hard to tell which way they're going, different times of the the day different direction.
  10. Been out the last 3 days mixed snaring and ferreting, i snare round an oil field that has chain link fence and the rabbits have dug under the fence just enough to get through, i have had a certain amount if sucess wiring the snares to the fence but i'm getting a few knocked wires . How would you set the snares ? with the bottom of the wire touching the ground or off the ground bearing in mind the gap is only big enough for the rabbit to get through.
  11. Went out Monday early and put down 120 snares in the morning checked them at 3pm before going home and had 10, following morning had another 7 then went ferreting took another 9, checked the snares again at 3pm another 3. Wednesday early start again 4 in the snares and pulled the snares, onto ferreting again about 11.30 took 6 so all in all had a good 3 days. Still loads there but the landowner won't allow shooting.
  12. Stubby, took the two ferrets out that i had off you, over the last 3 days and they worked really well, the nippy one has got better and stopped nipping but when i tried to collar her up she done me twice, plenty of blood, i just put it down th the way i was holding her when i was fitting the collar though. They and my other one don't get on at all well hopefully they'll settle eventually.

Has anybody got a phone number for netloft, i have tried to contact them via their website with no luck.
  15. 16 wide x18 meshes 2and a quarter mesh board, the thinking behind this size mesh is (not mine but feasable) that the rabbits head will come through the mesh and you can neck it whilst still in the net making it quicker to put a new net down.
  16. Start on a loop of hemp instead of a ring, leaving about an 18ins tail, when the net is finished tie your ring on as normal, cut the loop you started on and pull the net off the loop then tie the ring on in the same way you would normally using the 18inch tail. Hope this makes sense.
  17. In a couple of seasons you may be looking for some myxied rabbits to put on the land to keep the numbers down.
  18. Forgive my ignorance but what do the letters stand for
  19. No mate i only stripped it down today as well, it will need a little bit of work on it to put it back together.
