I applied for my shotgun license late December and waited 8 weeks before I got my home visit. At the end of the interview, I asked the officer how long it would take to come through if I where successful and was told 2-4 weeks. Well it's now been 5 weeks and I've heard nothing at all since he left. Just a couple of questions.. 1) If successful in my application, will it be delivered personally by the officer? or in the post? 2) Is it worth me chasing it up? or should I just keep waiting? If anyone in the N.wales area has had a license granted recently, could you let me kow

Plummer Terrier-Coalville Billy
B&W replied to ryanashworth1234's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
I met Joe a few years back and we had a good old chat about his old ratpack of which Billy was the main man. I know everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I thought he was a sound bloke to be honest. There are better ratting dvd's out mind, but I will send you it if your that desperate to see him/work. Personally, I've seen better terriers work to rats and better looking Plummers but that's just going off the dvd. Atb -
Aye, I'm not complaining lads. As I said, thats a decent bag aound these parts this year. Some permission is just dead this year compared to past years, but I'm trying to just rotate the land we do so as not to totally destroy places. Seem's this is the case up and down the country though. I'll definately be stopping earlier than usual next year and give them a good break.
-
Thought its about time I put my first report up, so here goes! Went out on the 27th with ferreter93 off here,my usual hunting buddy and tried a place we'd not been for a few weeks but which usually holds a few.(land rotation is a must around here!). The usual suspects where all loaded up, my Deerhound cross Lola, John's two Russels, Jill and Yazz and four ferrets in the box inc a couple of young uns which aint done that much yet, but as there are a few small sett's we thought we'd bring them along and give them a try. We got down there for about 9 am, got the gear and mutts out and set

No, that was my first thought when it started playing up as I was in the kitchen with allsorts going on. I then tried it in a few other places and same results.

I had a play about with the calibration screws yesterday but to no avail.... Cheers for the replies anyway mate.
-
Yeah I done mate, was just seeing if anyone else could shed any light on it before he gets back to me.

Alright lads, got a problem with my Mk1 15ft box. Was working fine when I was out midweek, then after I put my nets out to dry I gave the finder a little once over as I always do and found out it now makes some crazy squelching sound as soon as the dial goes past 4-5ft. I had it apart yesterday but all the tracks look good, no dry joints etc. I had a little play with the little white things used to calibrate but with no joy. If anyone has any ideas, then I'm willing to give them a go before sending it off to someone as I could do without spending anymore money at the moment..
-
Unscrew the dial and remove it or just unscrew it? As it doessn't seem to want to come off without bending the plastic. Cheers pal.
-
Just started doing the above, but it seems a bit stiff when coming out like something is holding it down. Is there anything I'm missing or do I just need to apply more force? Cheers
-
Hi mate, they are probably 4z Bisley nets or the like, nightmare to use in cover. I like the Hi-vis spun poly myself nowadays as they are easier to work with and good catchers too. They also don't need drying out like the hemp. Few lads on here make good quality nets. Sure somone can put up some names for you. Atb.

Gutted for you mate. You get kind of attatched the little stinkers after they've been with you a while dont you..? Best taking her down the vet's and get her checked out though, as you never know, she might come round for you. Atb
-
Nice one buddy. Looks like nice land you got there.
-
Yeah, fair play Liam. I know there are plenty of good lads around, title changed accordingly.
-
Yeah, i know. I've taken lads out before but the difference is they always showed some kind of respect or atleast said thank you.
-
Not bothered about the day out mate, got plenty of my own land. Just hate being ignored like that by anyone, especially some young scrote you helped out.
-
Yeah, your right i'm p****d off mate. Especially when you do someone a good turn and I don't take fools easily.

Alright lads & lasses, now although i've been a member on here for a good few years now, I tend not to post too often as I can't be a***d with all the silly bickering that goes on most of the time. But... I have to vent off today as I'm pretty p****d off to say the least. So the story goes.. I responded to a post in which a local lad was asking for a day out/ bit of advice etc and me being me I contacted the said young man and arranged for him to come out with myself and ferreter93, and he asked was it ok to go out on our land this week, and then we would go to his place the follo

Anyone form the Rhos On Sea/Colwyn Bay area with a Rimfire/Hmr?
B&W replied to B&W's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Mods, could you move this to the' Shooting Available' section please. -
Recently aquired some new permission for Rabbits,Fox and Mink on a golf course in this area, but after speaking to the Director I think a rimfire may be in order as oppose to my usual ferrets and nets approach. I would drop some snares down but I live a little too far away to be able to check them reguarly enough. I want to do a good job for the guy regardless as permission is permission nowadays. So if someone fancies coming down for a reccy and let me now what they think with regards to shooting clearance it would be much appreciated. Experienced guns only and insurance is a mus

Does anyone run their vehicle on this? Found a couple of places local to me that sell it and it's alot cheaper than the fuel pumps. Just wanted to know the pro's and con's and if you need to modify anything on the vehicle? Cheers

Hey flipper, we've all been there, just make sure you handle them as often as you can pal, the time you put in with them now will pay dividends further down the line. I like to just rough mine up as much as possible while they are young and believe me, now is the time to be taking the odd nip off a Hob ferret. As for punishing it for biting, well I know some people flick/pinch the noses but personally I have never needed to do this, each to their own I suppose. Give it a try by all means, see if they think twice after taking a flick/pinch. My advice would be to just get them handled ev
