  1. someone i knew had a puppy with similar symptoms to yours, the vet told them that it was fluid on the brain caused by a heavy blow to the head... which was caused by the owners evil child pushing it off the back of the settee. Is there any chance your dog could have run into something (as i have seen these working doggies do many a time).
  2. Had a look, nice looking dogs.. I have seen too many Akitas to get excited about them any more TBH, Hare you seen many european dogs in the flesh, or American dogs, as you wont see as much Redwitch there, which is a good thing in my book.. All the lovely history TBH has very very little to do with Japenese Akitas, the American are a totally different beast Actually the history was written about the japanese breed, Ive had 20 years of Akita both japanese and american and also Tweeny . Its funny you should say there isnt as many redwitch in america and europe, I have seen hundreds o

  4. My ideal dog would be a first cross bull/greyhound on a full deerhound or a first cross deerhound/greyhound. WHY? well..... because that what i like i guess... cant really think of another answer to that.
  5. You do have to wonder what kind of state their house must be in if they arent capable of looking after an animal in a cage? Its nothing to shovel out the crap and put in fresh food and water daily.
  6. cheep pups have a bump on me! That fawn dog (the father) is a looker.
  7. quality dog pal. i bet it was a foxes worst nightmare pre ban Nice dog.
  8. Reload, have you looked at our website? Take a look and let me know what you think. The link is here somewhere.
  9. I guess you could say that, since the American Akita has only been a breed in its own right for the last 2 or 3 years. Although they are commonly used as guard dogs and often for fighting in america (a disgusting sport i think). I have also heard of them used in sledding (doubt i spelt that right but hey....). MIne dont have any use other than to hog the sofa and leave fluff everywhere when they blow their coat. We dont show often anymore because of all the crooked judges. I had to witness a very distressed and upset Jenny Killilea in one show, a certain group of ar*eholes chose to boo her for

  11. I really want a rough coated bull x, but havent seen many so was wondering if anyone here has any, not for sale (though that would be handy) just out of curiosity.
  12. The akita did in fact have a use. Centuries ago, the Akita was owned only by the Shogun, the imperial leaders of the century. This dog was used to track large game and hold it at bay until the hunters arrived to make the kill. Some of the types of game the Akita tracked included antelope, elk, boar and the 800 pound Yezo bear. Some major setbacks occured to this breed during the late 1800's. The first, was the crossbreeding of the Akita with the Japanese fighting dog, the Tosa (this is now one of the banned breeds). This resulted in a dog of imposing size and aggression (which later after yea
  13. The fact that he is an absolute beasty when it comes to doing his job and that he has earned the reputation to be so well talked about. Archie was similar in his state of mind, its just sad that he didnt get to stay on this earth as long as his brother, that would have been a fine pair of dogs to have under one roof. R.I.P. Archie and Well done Golly. He's in good hands now and from what his owner has said, a home he will stay in forever. .
  14. Thought you aid that was your dog vixen. Which dog would you be referring to? None of the pictures i have shown are actual redwitch though mine do have the breeding behind them. The Dog at the top is Rossimon One More Chance. He is out of our bitch, and a Redwitch dog. Which dog was it you had the pleasure of working with? Dave and Jenny do have some stunning animals there, they have played a huge part in bringing the quality of the breed to where it is today. We have the Rossimon kennels (its mainly my parents who run the show now, im frowned upon because of my views on hunting, my
  15. Can't imagine the traits such as diificult to train, stubborn and aloof behaviour, independence and potential dog aggression would be traits you would require in a tractable hunting partner??? They say dog aggression is a trait of the breed, but i do disagree with that. All but one of mine are docile with other dogs, its all about how much time is spent socialising them as youngsters the one i have that doesnt like dogs we bred, sold to who we thought was a good home only to find that he was simply locked in a cage in a garage, not socialised with people or dogs, so he ist a very tolera
  16. Fair comment, but what if you forget, can you add it on reply or will it still be deleted. Ive advertised before and forgot to put the pirce (yes im a pleb on times) and just added it as reply.
  17. I do, not so often these days though, too many people buying their prizes these days, crooked judges and all that. Kennel club are trying to deal with it at the moment, once they sort out all the ringside saddo's it might be fun again. We generally check to see who is judging first and if their a fair judge then we enter. Dont mind being put last if its deserved, just isnt fair when its because the judge doesnt like you or has been paid off. that's the truth we were at a show a while back for english bull terriers and were told by some one that they were getting top dog but he would
  18. LOL. Do you like the breed then? I'm interested in various breeds but there not my "thing", no offence intended though Just wanted to learn some more info on them. none taken, their not everyones cup of tea. They dont really have much use other than to look at. But ive grown up with them so i cant help but love them.

  21. I have found that japanese can be a little temperamental, but thats more down to breeding bad lines than the traits of the breed itself. All Akitas are stubborn and aloof. Their a very independant and dominant breed. Their not your typical throw the ball and play fetch kinda dogs, sure they'll play for 3 or 4 throws, then they figure you cant really want it that much if you keep throwing it. They are hard animals to train, and do tend to be very grumpy when made to do something they dont want to, this generally comes from their dominance. To put it blunty, they can be right gits!!! As for long
