  4. I'm only a young hunter but i would definitely not be shooting at it with a shotgun as it might not kill it and you would be breaking the law if you let it get away badly injured. I would recomend purchasing a fox trap(box trap) and capture the fox in it. Bait it up with a bit of meat or something. Once you have caught it in the trap, put a thick leather glove on and grab it then break it's neck. It may take you a good few days or weeks to catch it. Regards, Alex break its neck with your hands isnt that illegal? most stupid thing i have heard in a long time you could use a sho
  5. haha thats great....didnt think you were that old (in the best of respects) but hey free money is good money
  6. A bit harsh I think. Without them you wouldn't get your qualifications. You should ask yourslelf why they do the job? Gamekeeping is hardly reknown for good pay and some folk are forced due to financial reasons to go where the money is (sad but true). Others have taken it up for family reasons, babies, etc. It is a competitive market out there and land is decreasing so the work isn't as abundant. There are a lot of crap keepers out there without doubt. Some have only got their jobs through nepotism. I applaud those who have the common sense to seek a qualification for their profession and
  7. Do you really think if someone has taken the effort to break into your yard, padlock your kennels and remove your dogs they will have second thougths and return them if their names aren't on the collar???? just what ive always been told, and would rather be safe than sorry What if a decent sort of person wanted to return the dog to it's owners? Knowing it's name is going to be a great advantage. It might not seem like it at times, but the vast majority of the British public are decent folk at heart, but you don't hear about them often. I can sort of understand what your saying, i

  15. work as a tropical fish advisor (think thats my official role) in a pet shop saturday and sunday.....rest of the week diddly squit, started a course and am thinking about leaving after two days since the man was very rude when i said i couldnt get there for 20 minutes today (i live in the middle of nowere and it takes about 40-50 mins drive to get there), so back to the drawing board i think i like to class my jobs during the week as lurcher and terrier cuddler, lurcher and terrier walker (5 miles min a day), lurcher and terrier shite picker uper rer, profesional bum siter on erer.........
  16. yes but in farmers eyes they would rather find someone else, maybe a older friend or friend of the family might come with you, any one older and experienced in gun handeling....i my self know nothing about guns and am just learning, luckily i have a boyfriend who has been leicenced gun holder for 7 years this year and so it is much easier to get permision as land owners need the reasurance that you and anyone on the farm will be safe
  17. i think you are spot on mate there are loads of them round our way words of a wise man there, although i have only just turned 17 a month ago and before i had my lurcher had never had rabbit, so we went lamping and the day after my boyfriends mother cooked the most amazing rabbit pie and now i prefer rabbit to any other meat....but you know what the real satisfaction was...knowing that my lurcher had coursed them rabbits and i new exactly were them rabbits have come from and it was killed exactly 24 hours ago.....now i will say my lurcher has had other quarry but you cant eat that also
  18. yeah still i would say alot of farmers today, you know with all the law suits that happen wouldnt want a young boy with a gun who isnt acompanied by an adult on there land.......that may be why many people have said no
  19. the bloke said earlier, hes getting rid of the dog as he doesnt have time, has a young child with anouther on the way
  20. thats amazing so cute, does anyone know what sort of milk they would drink if you decided to raise it yourself....just out of interest
  21. must be hard when you dont know the farmers/landowners but i think many farmers would not be keen on letting a young boy on permision with a gun just because of the inexperience and accidents that can happen....try making it clear that you will be supervised by an experienced adult at all times and get yourself insured............and always be polite...hope this helps
  22. Another one ....... "A good dog is never a bad colour" good saying that "strong stuff" you were very much right....i hate the fact people inbred dogs for looks, would never perchase a pedigree unless i could find a reason why it would be a better worker than a cross
  23. im not convinced by them, a farm i was helping on had them round there few hens, and i saw all the hens lieing against it sunning them,selves............maybes it wasnt instauled properly
  24. You forgot to mention the shite wages, lack of decent jobs and chronic shortages of social/affordable housing.. ...but apart from that! exactly the same as were i live
