  1. http://www.thedigitalcamerashop.co.uk/prod...ils.php?id=2513 The filters are a neutral grey, darker at one side, fading to clear. The idea is to use them when the sky is much brighter than the land. You've no doubt noticed that the land is often underexposed, compared to the sky. Your camera is really good at the sky bit, so you're unlikely to get blown highlights in the clouds, but it can make the land look horribly dark. The best way to get the filters is in a set, but don't get the "landscape" set, get the ND grad set. They are quite expensive though, but I will eventually be getti
  2. Good to see you putting your new camera to good use. Nice selction of shots - good timing to get the dripping tap, and I like the cheeky squirrel
  3. Hey, c'mon you lot... enough is enough... Actually, I quite like that little pink heart...
  4. You should get probed for mangling what looked like a perfectly good shot to start with... Bet all it needed was a touch of levels adjustment and converting to B&W... (sighs and shakes head...)
  5. Yes, you will get the hang of it - soon as you sort out those ND grad filters It looks very cold... winter is a good time for landscape photography though... you just have to wrap up warm
  6. Nice shots - that dog looks a bit cold No frost here today, just grey gloom
  7. lovely shots Kay, they look really good in black and white too. Not sure which is my favourite, they're all good I really like the fence, and the frosty cobwebs. Well done, You obviously have a good eye for a photo.
  8. Super shots, nice dogs I like the 2nd one best, but they are all great.
  9. I think thats an excellent reply. I think that reply, and some of the following comments, are just adding fuel to the fire for the antis, who claim that people who hunt are foul-mouthed, illiterate louts. Personally I would treat the antis with the contempt they deserve, and not give them the satisfaction of thinking that you have sunk to their level...
  10. That is indeed awful... I've heard of animals damaging themselves due to intense skin irritations, but never anything on that scale... Please do keep us informed if you have any idea what may be causing the poor dogs to do this.
  11. Elements is a pretty good starting point, but you could also look at the freebie "Gimp" or Picassa, and Paintshop Pro is also pretty good for photo editing and making pictures. You may find that your camera will come with a basic editing program.
  12. You tell him Kay Actually, I quite like the 2nd pic too... must be a girl thing because it's pink... The other two are just pics of ducks, but that one is a nice bit of Photoshopping made to look like a painting on china.
  13. There is a very limited market for film cameras these days, so if you do have a look at Ebay, and other used camera sales lists, you'll probably find that it's not even worth insuring at all...
  14. I think they are Chinese geese, sometimes known as Swan Geese - Anser cygnoides. Don't know of any others that have the weird bit on top or the beak.
  15. At least you spotted it... better luck next time.
  16. 18-200 is quite a big range, and the lens is not one of the more expensive ones, so at the end of the day I suspect image quality will be compromised. Having said that, it is very handy to have one lens that will cover this range so you don't have to keep swapping lenses. The 17-85 lens is a good 'un, but would also be redundant if you got the 18-200... One advantage would be the image stabilising on the new lens, but you would end up with 100mm less at the long end of the zoom, so you might find yourself missing that 300mm if you're into wildlife photography... The "crop factor"... re
  17. Adobe Photoshop Elements will do everything most people want for a fraction of the price of the full CS3 or CS4...
  18. Lovely images and I like the way they've been processed too. They look really good in B&W and have a sort of Holga or lensbaby look to them, which suits them so well.
  19. nice pics Where'd you find those sloes? There were none at all here this year - No sloe gin for Christmas
  20. Good shots Steve. Brave shooting straight into the sun like that too
