  1. I believe the sigma 18-250 got some good reviews, but I've not tried either lens myself. SIgma are usually pretty good, but can have quality control issues. Had a couple of sigmas in the past but really couldn't get on with them, found they gave too much flare and weren't really sharp at the extremes of the zooms, but for the price... the main gripe with the 18-250 seemed to be the weight... hahahahahaha wimps!!!!!

  2. if you are really serious about photography a dslr kit like this might be worth a look -

I use Canon, but for the price I can't fault this little gem when it comes to image quality... The two lenses mean you have wide angle (18mm) for landscapes, and the tele zoom for action shots. But... no doubt you will soon find that 200mm hasn't quite got the range you need, and a 300 would be nice, and then you will need a spare memory card, battery, maybe a speedlight... and so it goes on. Before you know where you are your wallet is light of a grand!

If you are thinking 350 is a lot of money for a lens bear in mind that a lot of the pics that make you go "wow" have been taken with lenses costing 10 times that amount. :icon_eek: No reason why you can't get acceptable shots with cheaper lenses, but it depends what you mean by "acceptable".

The fuji cam that Kay linked to looks very reasonable, and it may well be worth getting something similar to make sure that it is a hobby you enjoy enough to justify spending a lot of money on. DSLR bodies have crap secondhand value, but a good lens will hold its price.

  3. I don't get it at all... It's an amazing shot and can see no problem at all with it. Their argument doesn't hold up at all because there is no clue as to the location. Weird.

If I were you, I'd tell them they can't use it on their site anymore!

Just had a look on the site - love the cuckoo pics, often hear them, very rarely see them.

  4. Wise words from Skycat and Gaz. It doesn't seem fair that you should have to keep your dog on a lead because of the bad behaviour of others. But... you should have him under control so that he doesn't bound up to other dogs because sooner or later he is going to run into one that wants to kill him, not hump him :icon_eek:

Evening primrose is a well known remedy for "ladies problems" so it could possibly have been affecting his hormone levels.

If possible, keep him on a flexi lead when there are other dogs around and let him have a run when it is quieter.

Good luck with him - rescue dogs often come with problems, respect to you for taking him on
