I tried to post a reply earlier but I am rubbish with computers,so here goes again. 1-With a heavy duty stapler,staple the top and bottom cord of the net into the dowel where you want it,use 3 staples. 2-Place a blob of super glue or Araldite over the saples and cord,let it dry. 3-Get some heat shrink sleeving (as used to put over electric jonts on cables) a little larger than the dowel,slide over the cord and staples,you dont need a lot only about 5-8cms. 4-When you are sure the cords and sticks are in the right position heat the heat shrink with a heat gun,it really binds aro

If you go to the dowel section of B&Q they sell strong dowel rods 90cm long by about 2cm round, just put a point on them and treat with preserver they are 69p each and ideal for quickset nets as they are lovely and smoothe and stack well without snagging,if you are using traditional nets go for electric fence posts,grind off all the wire holders except top and bottom,they are approx £1.20 each but last forever and the spike at the bottom is a bonus in hard soil. jobs a good un

I don't think there is a world record for long netting however my gandfarther was a keeper in Dorset, he spent some time in the 1950's on a sheep farm in Australia where he put his long netting skills to work on the sheep station where he worked, before he died I remember he told me he and a sheep hand had caught over 500 rabitts in one night using a Heeler (cattle dog) to heard the rabbitts into the nets. He was prone to telling the odd ripping yarn but certainly knew his stuff, he went on from there to trap beavers and Coyote's in Canada for the Hudson bay Company.

I used one yesterday with a mark 1 locator,worked well better than the mark1 collar,less moving parts and doesn't get caught in the nets like the mark 1 collar.
