    E U

I watched all four parts and everyone should take the time to watch this series. All I see is it's getting worse everyday in the UK and our way of life is being destroyed. My idea is that you provide the ammo and I'll try and shoot straight but... do it quick before we lose what weapons we have!
  2. Willow1 I used pipe clips from local builders merchants. 22p each. 22mm is a really tight fit on a 1" scope tube and holds the 2AA Cree a treat. I bought the 25mm clips as well but it slid round a bit. Glue and screw the clips together and a couple of coats of matt black the the jobs done.
  3. I've tried the spud files chrono and it works OK but it's a drag carrying out the pc into the garden! the microphone I bought for £3.00. Software was freeware. seeing the time was not very clear BUT after a few tries, i could see teh "bang" and "thump" everytime. For interest, I ran a set of 10 shots which came out as an average of 11.3 ft lbs. 508fps / 19.6gr. took the rifle and ammo to a gunsmith, he chronoed at 11.4 ftlbs. Not too shabby!

    Mixi

I've got 4 permissions in Lincolnshire South and they are all rife with mixi.
  5. I'd be a rich man if I'd put a pound aside for everytime i'd forgotten the pellet or to release the safety! My mate has a AA with a 10 shot magasine. Some nights it's like he is using a shotgun through double and triple loading.
  6. As Requested:- Sorry about quality! 22mm Pipe clips back to back glued and screwed for the mounts. Scope 1" Tasco (old school)
  7. No matter how good we are or claim to be, EVERYONE misses at some time. Blame the weather, wind or the moon's phase, a miss is inevitable. Maiming or wounding's a bitch and although most responsible shooters go out of their way to finish off wounded prey, some escape. You're retiring your 12ftlb'er because you missed in favor of what to guarentee one shot kills? 17hmr. You will miss or maim with that one too at sometime so will you give that up as well? 22LR. Good solid round but has no internal guidance system, you'll miss with that eventually DESPITE the heafty Ftlbs. Shotgun. In th
  8. I sent an email to Natural England asking about General Licences & rabbiting over a month ago. Had notification that my enquiry had been forwarded to a Mr. Tony Bird (Midlands wildlife investigations officer). I'm still waiting!
  9. Remember the Tesco Cree led torches that out perform some shooting lamps? I bought a 3 watt 2AA cell Cree led torch from Tesco's yesterday for £8.00. They have also reduced the D cell 3 watt version to £8.30 and the biggy 4 watt torch to £13.41 . Both of these are a heck of a weight to stick on a rifle but the little 2AA one (Catalogue number: 203-8191) is a nice light little unit almost the same dimensions as a Stinger. I got a four pack of AA Rechargeable Batteries from Aldi for £2.99. I had read that the cree leds were bright and the 2AA one easily matched the stinger of my mat

    BBC

klarakoi I take it all back, the BBC did reply but no I didn't get to win the lottery. Yet again the BEEB smudge the facts to avoid the truth that they did get their facts wrong. Your follow up letter is bang on but they won't admit that they are a bunch of idiots anyway. Love the interview snippet, wonder the same applies to Gordon Brown, is he equipped as the general suggested?
  11. This is a bit long winded but bear with it as it might just save you money. There are loads of descriptions on what parallax is so I'm not going into it in depth here. There are however two types of telescopic sights one uses a fixed parallax and the other is adjustable (sometimes called AO or adjustable Objective). Fixed parallax sights are set to work at a nominal range typically 20-25 yards for scopes designed solely for airgun only, 40 yards for rimfire and shotguns, and 100 yards for the rest. (Check your manufacturers data). On some forums there are instructions on how to re-p
  12. How old is he? Young dogs needs company and physical contact for reassurance after being in a 'family'. Is he left on his own for long periods of time? If so he could be bored, can you take him with you or leave him with someone. Suggest dog toy of ball with loose treats inside which he has to work on to get a reward. Could you consider getting another dog for company for him Could something or someone be disturbing him (I'm thinking ultrasound dog deterrant, loud music, noisy fridge, traffic noise??) If his run is outside, is there a chance that rats or mice are nearby, the smell will dr
  13. Thanks Ghilles Nice find, given me a few new ideas!
  14. Take my NV with me as a back up to find any 'missing' bodies. Only used it twice in the last year. (Must remember to change the batteries)!

    BBC

Good on yer! Me thinks though that the odds of you hearing from the BBC let alone getting an apology from them is about the same as me winning the lottery. Hope they do though as you posting their response on the forum boards would make for interesting reading.
  16. I used to shoot fullbore target and there was a limit on how light the trigger pressure was for safety grounds. Generally modern high end rifles tune down to round 1 1/2lbs trigger SAFELY but I've known one or two to randomly loose off a round when banged round a bit at that setting. Unless there is a negligent discharge which causes harm, the rifle is unlikely to be tested by the police labs though. PCP airguns tend to be set at lighter trigger pressures than springers because most of the springer trigger's (sears) need plenty of back pressure to avoid random discharges. As fo
  17. Wrote a e-letter to my MP today about the disgraceful way the Gurkhas are being treated. Being ex forces and having worked with them in Hongkong it's the only way I could think of helping them and you can do the same. Bombard the MP's with your objections. It's not right that other ethnic groups can arrive and be given everything for free yet these ex soldiers served and shed blood for our country get nothing. I used http://www.writetothem.com Takes five minutes of your time and costs nothing. Go on, lets try and make our voices heard.
  18. scope mounts tight? scope dropped / used on a springer and thrashed to death / adjusted one way too far and damage to the adjuster? One person I helped had unscrewed the AO parallax lens and eye focus rings so far out that the threads were knackered (he wanted to see inside the scope). Felt tight at first check but rattled a tiny bit when shooting. Barrel loose? metal not bedded in correctly and the stock screws loose? loose silencer / baffles / or just misaligned? Drop the silencer off as a confidence check whilst sighting in but remember that the POI might change when it is refit
  19. If that's at the muzzle either .22 or .177 and 9.3ft/lb, then you've got a problem with your rifle.
  20. Tasco airgun scopes The older the Tasco the better as they were built to last. modern ones seem to favour PCP use and are lighter and might not be so rugged. Mine is a golden oldie from 25 years ago. Built like a brick (and as heavy) it has withstood FAC springers up to 40+ftlb.
  21. Excuse ignorance but what's a pin?
  22. Went to my local gun shop yesterday as my usual one was shut for annual holidays. I'd just changed one of the rubber bolt seals (.22 harrier) and wanted to get the gun chronographed. "Not got one in the shop" was the reply? OK, now I know that some gunshops are more biased towards shotguns and FAC's but how on earth can you service an airgun without checking through a chrono that what you've done doesn't make the airgun exceed the 12ftlb? :hmm: So the question is this. I know about the Combro chrono but as my silencer is 35mm across I couldn't fit it on the end anyway. So, if any of
  23. Read a bit about them a while ago but they all seem to be way into the FAC ticket range. Various forums have spoken about them (try http://www.pyramydair.com/blog/2005/10/air...-fire-201.html) for an example but generally say that they all suffer from poor range. Most are round the 9-13mm calibre. Gamo (Viper Express),sheridan, farco, and the koreans made one called the Fire 201. Read another article at pyramydair (can't find it now) about .22 air shotgun shells but again it said that you really need fac pressures to throw the lead about. If you can get a fac ticket and a 22lr, then shot
