Open the runs for a while, moles don't like fresh air but unless you can collaspe all the tunnel system as llanshooter says "nature abhorrs a vacuum" and there is a waiting list for new moles to enter old tunnels (or at least that's what is seems in my garden!)

I normally don't put markers in unless the owner uses a sit on mower or a mobility scooter to trundle round on but, as most of my friends are like me ancient or just knackered, wheels are in common use where I 'play'. Luckily I dont work commercial or agricultural, just 'friends' ( it's amazing just how many new friends I've acquired ) and family. The odd few that have been taken last month all had markers though and normally in built up places with footpaths running alongside. . . . . . . . . still, as most of my 'clients' are pals, they reinburse me for lost traps. As for you profession

Duffus traps that just disappear! Well not quite but I've had a few pinched over the past month. My mate tells me he has lost over 100 this year. Is it just North Lincolnshire or do you all suffer from this? If you do, what do you do to protect them apart from chaining the dog over them? i.e. or or

THanks Peaks for the advice. No, brass cylinder blown, no source of spares un the UK and the U.S. parts firms I've contacted, one said no spares, the second didn't even reply! Apart from that, the poor old lady was well worn out, bolt loose, hinges sloppy, and as for the barrel, smooth as a babies bum. I had to tap all my pellets to expand them a bit as they just dropped through! All part of history isn't it, get a basic design that works well and "improve" it. I prefer pcp now but I still think there is a place for a pump up especially if you are someone who has 'run out of air' over

Leonwales. No question is a stupid one mate, we all ask them! Only the fools laugh and then only to cover their own ignorance. You might be better off visiting at different times over a few weeks. you need to learn what the local habits of the rabbit population are. Two sites are seldom the same so what works elsewhere might not be good advice for your shoot.

OK It's humour time again. I've been allowed to tell this story to you all as a warning of what can happen if you don't quite know what your doing. All approved and my friend was sat here reading what I have typed. I went to see this friend as he has been fighting a losing battle against moles. When he started a couple of months ago, he probed for tunnels using a knitting needle. Not a lot of joy as his garden is like mine, full of large stones and after 2 pairs of knitting needles got bent his wife took all his toys away. He then bought a starter kit from a well known and reputable

Depends how soft you need the skin after you have tanned it. If you want it soft like a chamois leather then you need to use allum which you can buy in kits from tinternet alternatively you can pin the skin out on a board and cover in fine sawdust for a day or so but this will leave the skin very stiff like plastic but then you can use oils to soften the skin if you need to but I don't bother when doing rabbit skins as the people who hAve em of me aint that bothered Hope this helps a little All the best 410 phil the mole WWW.MOLEBEGONE.INFO :clapper: :clapper: :clapper: :c

If using them in light soil, don't forget to pin them down well because the little sods just bulldose them out of the way! -
Just down the road, garden job, moles, old guy, (well, older than me anyway), so OAP rates which turned out to be £300 less than a big franchise had quoted. Two days, two moles, two hours work, cash on results, lovely! What I didn't know was the guy was some sort of retired local horticultural thingy expert. Hadn't got home before the wiff (boss) called with 7 more local jobs. (OAP Lady) Did I do wasps? (No, couldn't help her) and a mole job. (done) (OAP Lady) Can I do something about the sparrows in the gazebo? (Old CD's on strings) (OAP Gent) Please scare off starlings from the elde

I'm a fan of simple technology but my VERY old Crossman 2200 pump up is knackered, given up the ghost, deceased! (20 years old this year). Has anyone got one hidden away they don't want? Please PM me if you have, thanks

Matt the Rat. I wrote to my MP a while ago about the rodenator following my topic of burrow blasting. He has forwarded me the reply that he got. Thought you and the rest of the forum might like to read it. Rubbish answer or what! Basically our Mr Fitzpatrick doesn't look like he is too worried. On his official website, he is listed as :- Recreations: West Ham United FC, Golf, Reading, TV/Films, Millwall RFC Good solid country background to base his decisions on! He will of course have the full backing of the PM as he comes from. . . . wait for it. . . . Glasgow!

Why does everyone use brass wire? Is it just traditional or something else? What's wrong with using 1mm stainless steel stranded wire? I was given some left over wire from making fox snares and it makes terrific rabbit snares that don't kink or tangle. It can't be that it's too strong or difficult to cut as I carry round a pair of 5" diagonal cutters in my bag 'just in case' and they work a treat. It doesn't cut into the rabbits neck so why brass all the time??

Hi Steve. Thanks, glad to be of service (10% discount off next order would be appreciated) Cheers -
I used car wiring Lucas BLUE electrical crimps on mine, works a treat doen't slip, it's light, and rust proof. Once in place (5" from snare eyelet) just cut the spade end and the plastic coating off. Simple and cheap!

This is sort of a plug and thank you for his mole trap design. I was called to a house where a mole was digging under paving slabs and pushing the soil / bedding material up between the gaps. His route into the site appeared to be under a shed which was on blocks 2-3" off the ground so I couldn't get to him any other way than by working beneath the slabs. On lifting a slab, I found that they were bedded in to a mixture of gravel and soil BUT THE REAL BITCH was that the bedding mix was laid on bricks. The little sucker was crawling in this 2" layer! A really good example of tunneling though
