    what kind of conditions can he expect I would think he would have mentoring of some sort on his first application.

    I dont think it is confusing at all,here is the wording on my ticket The .22rf rifle ,sound moderator and ammunition shall be used for shooting vermin and ground game and for zeroing on ranges. The .17hmr rifle ,sound moderator and ammunition shall be used for shooting vermin and foxes and for zeroing on ranges. It seems to be luck of the draw as to the force you have your ticket under. Personally the 17hmr used at the right distances is fine for shooting foxes,but if your force will not let you take foxes with 17hmr take the opportunity and go centrefire if that is what they are

    The easy option is to write in the box PLEASE CHECK POLICE RECORDS that way you are not lying and it is up to the police to check. That is what i put,and when my fo popped round he had a list of my speeding tickets etc.Doing this saves you forgetting about anything that happened years ago,and you may have forgotten about.

    I find the trauma of the hmr round is usually enough to stop the fox on the spot,even when it hits bone it does enough damage to do the job,but i agree a misplaced shot could end in a bad flesh wound if it hits the shoulder. My shooting partner uses 223 and you can see why it is recommended for fox,it is an awesome fox stopper.

    I have 22lr and 17hmr on my ticket,the 22lr is for vermin and ground game,and the 17hmr is for vermin, ground game and fox.the 17hmr is a capable round for the dispatch of fox,just be aware of your distances and you should have no problems.

    the nv its self is the nuts i just cant get it clear when you clip it on the back of the scope ill try get some pics up soon Have you tried turning down your magnification on your scope,i normally use 4.5 mag,but with my nv i turn it down to 3.
