  1. I moan like hell if the missus or the kids put shoes on the table, also if any of them open a Umbrellla in the house... Its the same with Magpies... It gives me the arse if I only see one. I get enough bad luck without anything making it worse .....
  2. Who would want it? after reading through this link it seems there's more than one person picking the team sheet http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/4150097/Rom-grills-AVB-on-dropping-stars.html
  3. I'm thinking this may well have been the case Hywell, the Hob was in a decent run with a Gill and she is ok but Reynard has enterd my garden quite regular just lately. I noticed when we had the snow he had patroled around the edge of the hawk weathering to the edge of the electric fence before making a B line to the chicken coop. one of the joys of living in the sticks but he'll come a cropper soon
  4. that a great idea fireman . they seem to go a bit wayward in the nesting season and often go AWOL. I actually lost one this time of the year and took it he had either been shot of died somehwere. a good year later my mother was in the garden hanging out the linen and their sat a jackdaw on one of the perches I had made at the top on the linen line poles, she walked into the house and got some cheese and down he came to within feet of her, he had the same little plastic purple ring on his leg so he was mine all right. unfortunately I never got to see him and he never returned anymore. Y
  5. Just found a old picture of the wife with the bloody jackdaw on her shoulder in the house . its funny as she was scared stiff of birds when we met but now she will pick up the largest without a worry ....
  6. Had a few Jackdaws and crows when I was a lad. I used to leave the bedroom window open and let them out all day while I went to school, one of the Jackdaws was that clever if he heard the gate go at the front of the house he would follow me to school, I ended up having to jump the front fence and run down the road so he didn't see me . all the jackdaws I had would follow me from house to house down the roads and fly backdown to my shoulder, I could ride as fast as I like on my cowhorn push bike but they would still wip down back to my shoulder and follow me everywhere, I even had one when
  7. roughly what are you looking for for it BB? always liked the 's expecially in .177 Pm me if you would rather...
  8. He's one brave little lad malt, kids of that age somtimes seem to cope better than adults when it comes to any sort of illness. one of the wifes relations has a Daughter who's skin litteraly starts to peel off and blister when ever she goes outside in the sun she always has to have cream caked onto her to stop her blistering. think she also has to drink a set amount of fluids each day to stop her skin drying out. met her on a couple of occasions and she is the sweetest little kid you could meet, she never moans about it and takes it all in her stride....
  9. sad new Col. how old was he? had one live for 7 years in the past but couldn't get about well by this age .........
  10. He was perfect the day before Haywel, I had him out and he was totaly bang on, he ate the day before as normal too .... I feed alot of Biscuits to them aswel as the odd Rabbits but a majority of their diet is Biscuit, I'm thinking this coiuld be a problem but all the rest of the Ferrets are fine. think I'm getting paranoid now why he went from being in perfect health one day and dead the next.......
  11. Yep I'll second that , used this on a piece of land we have now cleared and it did the job perfect. You can get different strengths but its not cheap.........
  12. Its a weired one how it went down so quick, I had him out yesterday and he was perfect and the next morning he's dead. It also had to be one of my best workers too .........
  13. went out to feed the ferrets as normal this morning and noticed one of the Hobs didn't apear, when I picked him up he was totaly comatised but breathing. got him in the house ready to take him to the local vets but within 10 mins he dead .... Had Ferrets for a good few years but never had one go like this before, all I can say is he seemed totaly lifless but breathing, his eyes was open but lifeless, the ferret was around 5 years old. anyone seen this before? I'm thinking it was a Heart attack by the way he went down so quick .....
  14. never see sparrows around this garden Paulus, can honestly say we never see starlings either , the only place I see them is back in the town where my mothers lives. we get plenty of Finches aswel as a monumental amount of Bull Finches and King Harry's but thats about it ........
  15. Think they're normally pretty stable due to their shape which doesn't catch the wind compared to a greenhouse Malt . the last one we had I fitted a frame round the base and battoned the polythene to it which was fine. on this one we trenched it in which was alot easier. the hoops have footings dug in a good 18 Inches and the polythene is trenched equally that if not more. been putting it off for months but now its up it should hopefully be beneficial............
  16. Been getting a couple of Red Kites around the garden in the summer. last year I started throwing some DOC's up on the roof for them, they nearly came in for them a few times with one dropping a wing out of interest but never took any. Hope to get some nice photo's of them this year if they get a little more daring and come in closer ........
  17. Spot on Paulus cheers .... I have been worried sick as my birds will be going down end of march mate, I can't pin the farm manager down to a date he is going to do it. the end of my aviaries back up to this hedge which will send the birds nuts when they finally come round to do it..............
  18. Anyone know the dates/month they stop hacking the hedges up? they're supposed top be doing the hedge at the end of our garden but I'm hopeing they're going to sort it before any of the birds go down to breed .......
  19. she reckoned she wanted a extention mate, think she was hinting at me needing one . finally got a extra Hoop and some other bits aswel as a new cover to knock it out a further 5FT, should keep her busy for a while. she's be wanting it finished for weeks but you know how it is! when the missus wants somthing done it goes to the bottom of the list .....
  20. The rings have been up for a few months now but finally got the Polethene and Doors on. Just the shelves to fit and thankfully finished. the soil seems ok plus I have a good supply of Horse manure to dig in shortly, not sure weather to raise the beds or leave it as it is? we're a bit behind but Looking to get the summer veg up and running pretty soon. anyone got their veg planted and running by now?
  21. Nice genuine write up Mick ... thats one well trained Harrishawks mate when you can shout at it to leave game birds out of season . think we have all had accidents in the past when our hawks are loose, to them a game bird out of season is still a meal, somtimes if one walks out underneath them accidents happen.....
