A couple with the Talpex today
Phil Lloyd replied to tilimangro's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Yes, I sometimes place a Duffus, if I feel that the tunnel dictates, but nowadays, I am mostly working with Putange and Talpex traps... Trappers must be adaptable, or like the Dinosaur, they will become extinct,...and we sure don't want that,... do we...? -
A couple with the Talpex today

I've no scientifically proven data of course, but in my opinion,...that strike would have caused a fairly quick and humane death... A result which we must all strive for... -
Fully agree,..foolishly trusting, users and low-life losers, has always been my downfall,...you have to keep well away from false friends,...they just waste ya...

I think you are right Kay... You need to have a project,..something that is all consuming,... I do have one on the go, but I lack the confidence to get it finished... Maybe tomorrow, eh...?

Still got her Keith, I was lucky, but it was touch and go at the time...It fecked me up big time, I've never really been the same since... It's illogical I know, but previous to this, I had been a callous fecker, killing game, like there was no tomorrow, but now, I'm not the same man... You are right about friends, kinda avoiding ya,... I think it's an inbuilt safety mechanism that most folks have, and as you say, they just don't know, what to say. Facts are,..what can anyone say...

Been there with my own dear wife,...goodonya old fellah...

Empathy,...that is the key word to understanding the plight of others,...and if you do not have it within ya to comprehend the vagaries of depression (and it comes in many diverse forms)..well, its no problem,..most of us survive,..so just jog on,.. and live your own life.?

You are right Fireman,..and only a fool would seek to compare, the blight of acute depression, or even the far more dangerous tightrope life, of a manic depressive,..to the horrors of terminal cancer. I've lost many dear souls to the Big C, so I am well aware of the horrible, nasty, cu*ish disease...?

Been cursed with this debilitating malady all my life...? It's a c*nt of a thing,..unfortunately, as you become older and less focused on a passion, one that can distract the fecker, it invariably becomes worse... The only respite for myself would seem to be, walking out with the dog,...this cures it, for a while,..but, you cannot stay out in the woods and fields forever...?

? The No-Mole style trap, imported from the USA, is a poor, underpowered copy, of the original Putange mole trap, now imported,..from France...

Nice job fellah... That is just about right,..well up on its toes...

Business,... is business...

As Charlie suggested,...keep the nails on a running dog nice and short I believe many cases of collateral Ligament damage to be spawned, by long nails, causing extra pressure on the toe when twisting and turning after the quarry.

Too right Killed plenty of hares, back in the day, with all sorts of miscellaneous hybrids... Obviously, when the fabulous Saluki started to influence breeding projects, things changed drastically,..but for the average Joe,...the hunting life went on,.. as usual...

Don't know much about coursing bred stock, but from what I've seen over the years in your part of the UK... I feel that a good strong, fast type of lurcher, one that is savvy enough to use its God-given physicality and speed, whilst still managing to use its gears and keep itself safe, does really, really well...

Used to run several Bedlington style lurchers, smashing wee dogs, great noses and tough as teak,...I really liked em...
