Yes, them are the Walkers I am referring to. There is a difference between Walkers and Mountain Curs, but really ya just have to have the type Walkers you like or the type Cur you like. I can break it down for ya if ya want or at least try to. Walkers, first of all are hounds. By this I mean they are kind of like a machine that you program to do a job and they just do it. They are extremely fast track dogs and in my part of the country they are extremely hard tree dogs. Ya, a shit eater would mean a dog that is basically junk and don't do a good job at hardly anything. One reason a fella would be a little skeptical about breeding a dog that is young is because you really don't know much about the dog yet and how he will turn out in the long run. Yes, it is way to young to be breeding him and I know he is not finished or even started, but I don't give a shit cause I ain't selling the pups and I want some 3/4 pups from my gyp. I don't even know if he will do it or not. I hope so cause I know if I don't get it done she will get killed around here somehow. Real good dogs have a way of getting themselves killed around me for some reason. I am keeping all the pups so nobody can say that I am trying to just be a puppy mill or anything. I believe in him cause he ran over 25 miles all day Saturday and casted and went well the whole time.

They are rough as hell and would definately dispatch some of your foxes in short order. This is just overall by the way, I am sure there are more shit eaters than there are good ones, just like in any breed of dog.

This is a picture of my kids and a buddies kids holding some dogs that we used to catch this coyote. The kids like riding around with me and watching the dogs catch yotes if they get a chance to see it. Today it was perfect and they got to see the whole race. The dog on the left is coming 9 months old out of the gyp in the center. She is a Walker/Mountain Cur cross and he is out of her and a Staghound male. He was in on the catch. Bull breeds would definately have the desire and so would all the staghound type breeds. Free casting and getting them to cast out 2 or 3 miles down a ditch or creek though and find the yotes would be kind of difficult with these kinds of dogs in my opinion. I would also think that even if ya could get them to do this they would be somewhat winded after having to run a few miles to jump one and then actually run one down. I ran a yote last year for and hour and 35 minutes which is way longer than I ever want to run one and I got to see most of the race and them dogs was haulin ass behind hi

I did not mean to start a debate on here at all. Staghounds are a man's only choice if he is dumping on top of a yote and wants to catch it and kill it. They are amazing and have a lot of different breeds in them to make them what they eventually came to be, but they are not ideal for what I do or I would have them. I do not like running type hounds for the most part around here cause I cannot find any that suit me. They all seem to like to run a track a lot and never seem to want to catch the way these cur dogs do. These curs will not open hardly at all on track and they do a good job ge

Hogs are an entirely different subject. Over here there are two kinds of hog hunters. Those with bay dogs and those who are pretty catchy with a lot of bull type terrier blood in them. The bay hunters really cast their dogs and the dogs can be miles from ya bayed up and you have to get to them with the catch dogs and then cut your catch dogs and run like hell behind them. There are also guys who hunt orchards that kind of cut right on top of them with bull type dogs and then get in there.

We don't have any boars around here at all. We do have foxes, but not a whole lot cause the coyotes make real short work of them. They can outrun them fairly easy and have a whole hell of a lot more endurance. So, any fox that shows himself is usually killed off around here by the coyotes. They are a pretty rough type animal. The fox are really no comparison to a coyote. They are about 10 mph slower and they really don't fight at all when a rough dog grabs a hold of them. The coyote put up more than a good fight. Ya a bulldog type terrier would make short work of a yote and so would a staghound type dog, but neither one of them would probably free cast very well and go find a coyote for me. Them dogs in that second picture are all under 10 months old at the time. I shot all of them, but one anyhow, but they didn't do a bad job catchin yotes for me.

That gyp is a Treeing Walker/Mountain Cur cross. No bull blood at all, but I am planning on getting some of that stuff in the future somehow.

Ya'lls foxes must be a hell of a lot bigger than ours cause I ain't never seen one go 20#'s. Most of ours are in the 15# range I would say. Our coyotes are in the 30# range. de

I believe you are talkin about Black Mouth Curs and no they are not. These are Mountain Curs and Walker/Cur crosses. The Black Mouth are a different breed kind of, but they are all curs and I really believe the Black Mouth are probably a little rougher overall than these here Mountain Curs are. I think you fellas over there would love crossing your running type dogs on a good ole rough ass cur dog. I wish I had some of that rougher type blood, but as of now I just don't. These are mostly bred to be tree dogs and a fella just don't need a tree dog to be that rough unless you are talkin bou

I have not posted anything in a while, but I thought I would let ya'll know that I caught a coyote yesterday here in the states. I have a Walker/Mountain Cur cross that I catch them with mostly and I bred her to a Staghound and have young male pup out of her that I will be catching yotes with in the future. I culled the rest of the pups, but I kept him cause he was the hardest running and killing pup out of the litter. I do not have a kill dog yet, but my gyp can hold them at bay very well. A coyote is a big rough ass animal to kill, but the .22 does a fair job on the bay up. Keep hunting
