  1. I'll tell you who told me, Cheeseman who was the terrierman for the Enfield Chace and, I believe, the acting/past/nearest area rep. I spoke also to Ray (Cutler?)whatsisname the fellow down in the west country who's chairman or something...I think he's a terrieman for a hunt down there. Is that okay. ?
  2. AT WHAT POINT DO YOU BECOME NUV NO MATES. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I dunno...I guess when you become Mr. No-dog...Surely you should be called 'Dog-dropper'. You didn't answer the question though matey...you wait 24hrs before you instigate a rescue...? You happy with that then...? Nice... That just about confirms it matey.
  3. I wondered if this Post would go this way. Why doesn't everybody just join their area Fell and Moorland. This is SPECIFICALLY why the Club was formed back in the 60's! RESCUES! For the price of 2 Packs of Cigarettes your Dog can have whatever Plant is needed and as many people as required to Rescue it. By joining your own area of the F&M you have guys local(ish) to you, and there is also the possible benefit of some experience of the Earth you are at. There are also a few other good Terrier and Lurcher Clubs up and down the Country, join them! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's
  4. Is she half Rabbit? :11:
  5. Ive attended a couple of rescues and your description of entering more than one terrier is quite typical( and perhaps creates problems),and quite a lot of the time buy those who should know better,as long as lessons are learnt its not all in vain. A bloke I know generaly wouldnt attempt a rescue for atleast 24 hours believing a dog should stay that long anyway a lot of people panic when the dog doesnt surface after a few hours only for the dog to walk out unaided a few hours later as the calvary arrive. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Personally, I believe it depends on the individual
  6. Bad news mate...how did she go missing?
  7. Make sure she has pig rails around the edge of the box. Booking the day off when she's due ain't a bad idea either.
  8. You never know when you'll get the call or make the call... If my phone rings then I'm there...I lost a dog years ago and the help I had from other terriermen was excellent, many of whom were far more experienced than I was at the time. Unfortunately, the dog was dead - which I suspected - but until we pulled that dog from the earth, the effort was relentless.
  9. I always thought this was a problem peculiar to bitches...
  10. So Keeps...Blue died in 1996 aged 21 - my god that's a good age for a terrier that works...therefore born 1975. As I said before I put the picture of Blue up to show Thurso Jack who was interested in Omega. Blue was 21 years old when died in 1996 and as previously stated he was 4 years old in that picture. Are you having problems reading? and where did I say Omega was a dog? What year was Omega born?
  11. Spot on that Trevor, Mr. "I'm gonna rape your mother and kill your kids" held the record for getting beat whenever someone hit him back. He was a self confessed old dear mugger and that fault line got found out. The initial question was Clay and Louis and to add a simili poignant to this thread i would say that Clay was the greatest heavyweight because he was able to change styles according to the conditions. Intrestinglly before the Douglas fight Clay was interviewed and asked how he would have dealt with a force like "Iron Mikes", he made no bones about his reply and quickly whiped through h
  12. I tell you mate..if that bitch survived then she would have done much for Plummers around this neck of the woods...but I aint got a clue what is or isn't a Plummer nowadays - old style, new style, PTA, PTCGB, and frankly don't care...there's tried and tested breed that act and do exactly what I require...no time to mess with 'new breeds'. What does make me laugh is Plummer being banned from a Plummer terrier club :11: :11: :11: how farcical is that...mind you, it does seem that the warring factions are interested in show/kc registration.
  13. Good point mik... One thing I would say, is how far back anyway...the locator question puts it into perspective really. I've had terriers 21 years and had locators when I started. But then look at Lucas's day...dug badgers but never lifted a spade...always had a team of navvies with them...didn't nead locators, just trenched and destroyed the settes.
  14. That aggressive dog, Blue, was mated to a useless bitch bred by Kevin Allen (now terrierman at the Bicester and a bigwig Parson man). I cannot remember what happened to the rest of the litter but my mate (the half caste seen in a few pics I put up) had a bitch pup, the one in the pic (the only one known). A chance mating but if the bitch in the pic was an example, they must have all been excellent. She self entered to very strong quarry at seven months, slipping the leash while we were digging further along the bank. Chaos ensued..we were digging one end and digging the other, some 20
  15. Yes...more testing quarry could be worked.
  16. Tim...whether it's the fighting between the two clubs that makes the owners so defensive I don't know...I understand the Parson/Jack clubs have been in a similar position...mine's better than yours etc. It confuses me...which is the real Plummer..PTA or PTCGB..? Or are they all? My own view is that they are not taken seriously as a foxing dog...but for ratting etc they are supposed to be second to none...not my thing. It also seems that showing seems to have taken over from working and the name Plummer=big bucks. Still, at least generations of workers aren't being diluted like ra
  17. Those I've seen - not many - have been aggressive towards other dogs. Not what you want when breaking through on a dig - or at anytime really. The problem is, no one is allowed to give an opinion of Plummers as those who own them just shout that opinion down rather than offering a different viewpoint...just see the post made eralier by Keeps...para or what? Try reading Harcombe's World of the Working Terrier...I don't believe there's any Plummers in there. Nuv
  18. :11: nice mongrels though aren't they Shaun but where does the KC come into it? Since when should what the KC do matter? .......oh right, I forgot, sorry Nuv, your borders are KC registered aren't they :11: :11: :11: <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Here: he was born in South Wales in 1975, haven't a clue how old Omega was and Im not really bothered, I put the pic up to show someone who had read and enjoyed the book Omega, not for any other reason.' Perhaps it was a typo. I have little interest, but merely commented on the dog as I knew it and saw it lock onto
  19. You said 'aggression'. Gameness..my dogs have plenty. So Omega was a dog  ? That's good news really...two generations of terriers in 21 years...the dam must have been ageing to say the least...a real breeding machine. How old was Blue in the pic...what, you don't know? Say Blue was 13 when he died...wouldn't that have made Omega eight...quite old to be breeding from...older than the Kennel Club like...something's not adding up here....
  20. Terriers should NOT be aggressive..they should be game. Any news on the dates?
  21. I'm right about the aggression...put me off them for life. What year would he have been whelped then Keeps...and how old would the dam have been??
  22. I knew that dog Keeps and like many Plummers, had a reputation for being aggressive, something I personally witnessed. I like the pic of the one with the cut ears...that's brambles for you...wait till you dig a fox. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Those dates don't add up though... Was he owned by Martin Hale of Chelmsford way? I'm sure it's the same dog. Nice to be missed Keeps; wanted to chat with proper terrier people like yourself...
