  1. Someone knows that is really going on. If only we could live under common law as agreed Magna Carta and all that. But the b*****ds keep making up statute laws that serve no benefit except taking money from us To the wilderness. Enough with all of the frills of the world, they are not worth the life spent to keep them.
  2. I slipped off to the idea of the myostatin deficiency problem in the whippets and talked to a friend of mine about it. My idea was to find a bully whippet and breed it to a stag hoping to get a carrier out of the first cross. He informed me that the carriers quite often get bad muscle cramping after a race. Well, that might be alright if the dog wins but it doesn't sound to good if your on a long day of hunting. Another idea bites the dust.
  3. Have any of you had lurchers tested to see if they were myostatin deficiency carriers?
  4. Is it just whippet and greyhound that is getting them there or are there other breeds that are being put in the mix to go farther than the pedigreed race dogs? I more curious about other breeds that might be used. That's where the "magic" might come in. I'm just guessing here but it's rather well known in the US that slipping a little of the right greyhound gets a faster dog but I'm seeing some other traits that have me scratching my head. They lead me to believe that there is another secret ingredient that is making the non-peds screaming fast...that's what I'm looking for. I'm not
  5. What's the opinion on what's making the fastest dogs the fastest? Is it always greyhound? If not what? I was looking at a dog named Bestman and he's sure got some hair on him and a look I like. He's Bestman 2 in the database.
  6. I'd like to know more about the non-ped whippets, what they look like and what goes into the making of the best of the best and the fastest of the fast. Please post all of the pictures you can and your theory as to what is in their making.
  7. There are some folks that just don't see dogs the same way. Some people have it in their own breeding to have love for their dogs and some just don't. There is nothing you can do to change that so why get on here and make another animal rights commercial? You guys got to be a little smarter about things and see the big picture. This thread is just foolish.
  8. Apparently I have a setting on my computer that won't let this site spy on my computer. Be careful out there. You can click on the link a few posts back and see what I was trying to post. It's just an updated picture of my whippet x jagdterrier pup.
  9. Why can't I use an external link to post pictures on this site anymore? Am I missing something?
  10. Nice coat on that one. He looks like he's going to be useful.
  11. All my family gatherings looked like a Budwiser commercial so I'm used to the culture. I'm off. I'm going to try and snag a little action on the creek tonight. The coon are in rut and the temp. isn't to bad out.
  12. I guess I'd prefer no alcohol but I'm not going to fault a guy for having a beer once in a while. Truth is, if your serious about working dogs you really don't have much time for drinking. Getting up early to get them out isn't helped by a sore head. I don't know many really good dog men that drink more than a beer once in a while. The man I hunt with most is 67 and has never had a drink in his life. The man I used ot hunt with most has only had two beers and that's because he was in trouble after having been stranded out in the bush for a couple of days and the folks that he found to hel
  13. Well, I have a nice list of who ain't coming here. I'm in Crivitz, Wisconsin. No muzzies allowed. No swearing in front of the family. No parties. No drunkenness (or drugs of any kind).
  14. There's a hair salon in town that sees the great majority of the good looking women in this area. That would be your target.
  15. Anyone that would like to chat about the offer can call (expensive) or email me. jagdlep@yahoo.com
  16. Bird- Pack that wife of yours up and get out here! I've been wanting one of these for 16 years. I've just been busy working other dogs. It's finally time. Yes, that's the same pups as were mentioned by Minkery.
  17. For the record, I'd be willing to help a feller out. If someone wants to try out America for a while and is trustworthy I have a big bonus room above my garage (about 12' x 34') that would be the cat's ass for a single guy and I have plenty of room for dogs. You can live a comfortable life up there and I'd help out navigating all of the unfamiliar things involved with getting started in a new country. Even if it was just for a couple of years...what an adventure and education in dogs! I would have to look into the visa process but I'm sure there's an easy way to do it. It's a big move and
  18. Cab buddy, house dog, etc... He'll go everywhere with me and be run at everything. No bear but coyotes on down. I walk hunt, hunt from the boat, truck, bike and any other way that sounds fun at the moment. I'll give him a shot at running with the hounds on bobcat and coon when he's got enough experience. He'll have to let me know what he's capable of in the end but he's going to get the chance to do many things. It sure would be a bonus if he treed but I'm not holding my breath.
  19. I belive one of my first posts on this board was to ask if anyone had ever seen a whippet crossed with a jagdterrier. Well, since then I have looked high and low for even one example and found nothing. Last fall the first litter of it's kind was born and I bought one. It's on it's way to my place right now and I think it will make a handy dog. I thought since (to my knowledge) it's the first of it's kind, I would share some pictures of it as it grew and give a little information along the way. Here's the pup (front and center):
  20. Bingo. What I want to know are the specifics. The more I learn, the more I wish I had learned before I married my first wife.
