Cheers mate will post results (if any) and get rid of him for good the cheeky little cnut!

There's definantly no badgers in that wee bit because I ferret there all the time and its only tracks and rabbit warrens. I dont know of any badgers being in the area just foxes, rabbits, stoats, weasels, rabbits, hare and pheasants. Cheers Jordan

Thanks snareman How many wires do you suggest setting or would just one do the trick? Cheers Jordan

I already have two litters lol. Mine came in really really early. Plus one has already had a phantom. Some of the kits are 3 weeks and a few days old. ATB Jordan

Well here's a few photos of the area and some of (what I believe is his tracks) and his shite (I think lol) shite a closer look This above one is the way my dog runs under (its a fallen tree that I jump and he runs under) think that could be fox tracks too though? This was a scrape but not rabbit by the looks of it hmmm So what do you all think?? Also how would you suggest setting the snare (anchor etc.???) another for fun this is Harry showing me the way lol Cheers Jordan

Wow thats a nice wee hob. But he is tiny! well compared to my monsters lol. Bet hes a handy worker though. ATB Jordan

I managed to get results with snaring rabbits but dont no where to put a fox snare?? Theres a few fox turds about the edge I'll get a few pics up tomorrow as its too dark at the moment. Any advice would be great Cheers Jordan

Quick simple question (I hope) how do I attach a fence snare to a fence?? Do I just double knot like on a tealer or is there a certain knot I should use? Cheers Jordan

Iv been snaring for a while just to add a few more bunnies to the freezer, but my snares are starting to get worn so besides from ordering more I thought Id give it a shot making them. All I know is that I buy some eyelets and brass wire, but what im not sure of is how you attach the eyelet and how you ply (or twist on) wire to get a certain thickness??? Can anbody help? Cheers Jordan

He's just over 2. While walking Im the one in charge but when a rabbit is in the picture he's gone. He gets to do lots of retrieving games and playing with some other dogs. Also some tracking games e.g. drag a toy/rabbit skin across ground to hide and tell him to go search. When walking I have a toy with me to keep him occupied when passing other dogs (especially the ones he hates!) That keeps him amused and the usual spaniel obsessivness! Cheers Jordan

He is a springer collie cross. Dont let that make you think that he cant be a rabbiting dog as he is good in small doses. Hes my pet and companion first then Would a spray collar suffice? He hates water and the spray collar helps with his dog aggression. Cheers Jordan

Recently I've had a few problems with my collie x when out ferreting or generally chasing the bunnies. Some of the work we do is near railways and the last thing I want is my mutt running off the edge on to the railway breaking his neck! He is very keen and nothing at the moment seems to snap him out of his obsession with rabbits. Im sure if he saw them more often and they werent made a big deal of he would come round. Does anyone have any techniques they use to get the dog to stop in mid chase or even after they lose it and start using their nose? which at night scares every other rabbit off!

Well today I tried introducingthe new guy to the less agro (but bigger) of my two hobs.....didnt go well. At first the 2 started marking everywhere and then the new guy jumped on him a few times like he was mounting except no biting then eventually after about a minute the hob grabbed the new one and fighting commenced this went on for about 2 mins before I docided that was enough as he tore a huge chunk of flesh and fur from the new guys side of his neck. Lots of blood and wounds and that wont be happening again as the poor guy is curled up in his bed scared to death. Jordan

The new one is in his own cage at the moment (and will very likely stay there! lol)

Im finding it hard to tell. My original two are brothers and they boss each other about by just dragging and biting each others necks (leaving scars) but when the more agro ferret met the new one he sniffed him for a few minutes (during this the new one sniffed him as well) then he grabbed the new guy by the neck (then throat) and started shaking him about. God knows how he does this as the new ferret is litrally a ball of pure muscle. When the less aggressive hob met him at first they were fine now he does the same but not as bad. All 3 together was a really bad idea the brothers jumoed him a

Thanks folks I'll give it a try. By neutral ground could it just be a part of my garden neither have been before? The most agro hob is actually grabbing the new one by the throat and shaking, I take it that aint playing? and even when my original 2 fight it isnt that bad just a few scars. The hob who I'll get vasectomised isnt the aggrovator but is just a follower so I thought that if his brother wasnt attacking this other ferret than he probably wont bother either??? The new guy is in his cage on top on the hutch the other two are in for now, but I'll leave it like that until he settles in.
-
Thats the problem I do have jills that will need mated. The one that would get vasectomised is the one who isnt as aggressive towards the new one. I take it I should just snip the new one as well (castrate) Jordan
-
Well I recently put up a post about me being offered a new hob that was seemingly huge and aggressive....well I got him today to and he's none of that he's a wee ball of pure solid muscle and is very friendly. The only problem is that my other two younger hobs grap him and shake him about like a doll (they are bigger but not as musclular) The two gang up on him so Iv had to keep him in his little shite cage to let it cool. My question is, is there away to get them to get on with him better? I was thinking of getting them fixed anyway (the main aggrovater - castrated, the other young one vasecto

He still got em. That did come to mind. Would getting him a vasectomy do the same? or not? Cheers Jordan

Well I have just been offered a new hob to add to my collection. He is older than my two I have at the moment and is ALOT bigger. He is an outstanding worker (seemingly). That to me sounds pretty good other than the fact the lad said that he doesnt get on with other ferrets too well... especially other hobs. We have 3 hutches one with the 2 hobs (i was hoping the new one could join) 1 with 3 jills (not big enough for anymore than them) and one with a jill and some early kits (definatly a NO) Im working on getting another hutch or two to add for the kits and possibly this hob. But I was wonderi
