  2. Would I be right in saying I dug a few times with you last year ?
  3. I think if you added some dogge de bordeax blood this would add some jaw power to this cross but might be a bit bulky for long ears
  4. Tomo do you ever hear of the dog /or bitch that came up my way to J
  5. I will tell you that he is no where near the fastest dog I have seen by far
  6. Don't think anyone is saying it AIN'T important.it's just not the be all and end all in a lurcher's makeup..yes it does have to be quick enough to catch it's quarry but that's about as much use as it needs to be imo? All the things that Moo mentioned are imo of more significance than just blinding speed? ATB Andy. Spot on Andy, it was originally stated in the thread that speed was "the" most important thing in a lurcher, its thats so why dont we all own greyhounds? Its because you do need speed, of course you do but its not the most improtant attribute, there are lots of fast dogs
  7. wind ,feet, heart ,size, strength ,strike ,conformation even brains would all come before speed for me...if speed was the most important atribute we would all be running greyhounds
  8. An animal as powerfull as they bulls does not derserve to die in that manner
  9. no be as many dogs in scotland worked as hard as that one , i'm sure if ye want he'll put it to the test with yours , just ask him Thats quite a statement Denned I bet I could show you quite a few
  10. Show lads are like there dogs wankers
  11. That is always the question mate, most dogs that put more than a handful of bends into one with out pulling it don't really want it. thats a bold stament to make, like saying if the dog puts more than 15 bends in a hare it dont want it No imo a fox was easily caught they were not the fastest quarry ....and a hare doesnt bite back ....ive seen plenty of dogs spin a fox but they dont want to catch it as they dont like getting bit.....my point is if foxes didnt bite back they would be not much of a match for even an average lurcher
  12. ha ha law charlie would be first to get away i think I dont think I know a fox was the easiest to catch out of that 3
  13. Took this from the back of my house a skene of around 10,000 .....more more new birds are appearing daily and hopefully we get the numbers of 65-70000 we had last year ....this is my alarm clock every morning 10 000 geese 40 feet above my house
  14. A fox would be despatched quicker by a single dog as it becomes a tug of war when doubled up ...imo if you gave a deer a hare and a fox 100yard law charlie would be the easiest caught ....but thats if the dog wants to catch it
  15. I was a keeper a long time ago but just have a very good and varied way of life
  16. Yes mate they are both in the Don dog but alas they are both in Venus too lol..he's one ugly mother mate but the b***ard is mad keen, last night alone he ran full pelt into a Stile,a fallen down tree, into a ditch, over a river bank and into the stones/rocks and even his last kill we thought he had impaled himself in some kind of "wire/metal" laying in a hedge bottom but after 10 seconds or so he freed himself from whatever he was stuck amongst and just come back with rabbit in mouth although with a limp,30 seconds later and he's right as rain lol..tough as nails, never even makes a murmur..just r
  17. I went out to the foreshore as there was a strong south westerly forecast ...but the wind never came too much but it was still a crakin morning to be out and bagged 3 ducks ...there are around 15000pinks in at the moment with more and more skeens coming in daily
  18. I knew Old Charlie well and went to keepering college with his oldest Bob Pirrie ...that programme done Charlie no favours
  19. I find it funny how most will travel the country for a ribbon but dont put in the miles for the graft ...another thing I find amusing is if they had a show would they graft there dog whether it be lurcher or terrier the day before the show ....there a differant breed these show lads ...and dogs
