  1. falconry art and practice, by emma ford is a brilliant beginners book.
  2. Ive also used cheap wax jackets for hunting. the problem with these, are that they arent 100% waterproof, and the hoods on them are crap. As well as this, they arent breathable, and on warm days you get soaked in your on sweat! does anyone know of a good good, thats waterproof and breathable, which wont get caught to easy on barb wire either. Also, one that isnt too warm, so its ok to hunt in spetemnber in it. im looking to spend around 50-60 pound on it? cheers seán
  3. dont see the point in them really, IMO they can create a lazy bird and a lazy falconer.
  4. me and a mate yesterday pinned 2 good skins on a board, salted them, and left them to dry. the only problem is that some blood was on each pelt. is their a way to wash the pelt, without the hair fallign off? thanks seán

  13. join the club mate, attend field meets, enjoy the craic and meet up with a few lads, some of which may be close enough to mentor you. schools will just show you basics, you wanna be out hunting and seeing it done.
  14. well i decided that today would be my last hunt of the season. the reason is theres not too many rabbits about, need to give him time to grow back talon, and the rabbits will be breeding soon. so headed out and arrived at farm for about 11. had 1 flight in the space of an hour. which was a rabbit running into thick cover. all the holes i done were empty. so put bird in car and tried another farm 2 miles down the road. first set was quite a big one, so 2 ferrets in, and after a few minutes a rbabit bolts, it cuts the corner of the field for a ditch on the far side. which was about a 4 foot wide
  15. all depends on the bird i guess, i went the first season with my bird doing single kilsl only, bar 3 outings, 2 doubles and a treble. soon paid of in the second season!
