Whats the best time of the evening/night for fox??

Exactly, did wonder if they felt safer on there possibly, fox tracks all about, rabbit tracks into field and back then into bales. -
Whats the best time of the evening/night for fox??

Continueing this; We had a few more inches of snow the next day, so out again and this 1 is a puzzle to me??? On 1 of the farms I visit they have a row of round bales left along a hedge side. These are the 4ft dia type and were 4 deep for over 200yds along the hedge, hundreds of them. It's an area I don't normally associate with large numbers of rabbits, but they are obviously there, but, the thing was that the majority of the tracks where 4ft up on top of the bales. Almost evryone of the hundreds of bales had multiple tracks across them. Could see where they had scambled up in -
Whats the best time of the evening/night for fox??

Regarding the comments about foxes either singly or in pairs; Lots I guess had snow over the last couple of days. I always look forward to the 1st snow of the year, just to see if the wildlife is where I think it is Now, I don't go lamping, the odd foxes I get are usually walked up or suicide cases that pop their heads up 50 yrds away to pinch the bunnies I've knocked over. Anyway, shotgun over arm I decided to have a yomp around at 1st light, coverered a fair acreage to be honest and; There where 1 hell of a lot more fox tracks than I expected, and inline with the above they w -
I was in 1 of my local dealers the other day looking for a rough and ready O/U gun, £250/£350 mark. The 1st I picked up had a distinct curve to the rib, made me start looking at that aspect of them all. Out of 6 guns I handled 3 had less than perfectly soldered on ribs, it wasn't after damage. So basically it isn't linited to SxS's

For years and years I've carried a couple each of BB and AAA shells on the belt, 3" variety. Only needed then twice in all that time, but, recently changed the gun and it's 2 3/4" now. Tried every where to get hoild of a handfull of shells to suit but no look. Have got say 20 Buffalo 2 3/4" 36gm BB shells, and 20 Lyvale Express 2 3/4" 36gm AAA shells surplus to requirements If anyone local wants a few of these, or a swap for other carts, I'm near Junc 29 M1 to do a swap or trade etc

Let's turn this round, from what you say, a pump action would be a viable alternative, shoots just as effictively, still only 1 barrel to clean and none of the crap and in depth cleaning required for the gas operated semi's. You will have to learn the cycle the thing after the 1st shot rather than keep pressing the dam trigger expecting a 2nd shop The winchester SXP, made in Turkey but not by hatstand, is the obvious choice, read the reviews, not a bad word spoken. Mine was a recent buy, £250 in mint nick.

My mate used to do that but tie a string from the chicken to his foot, suprisingly he can still walk. The OP mentioned something earlier that I have to comment on, something about it being tight to shoot but allowing a clear shot. With a shotgun that's not the real issue, the issue is with BB or AAA shot the charge carries 1 hell of a way, alot further than an air rifle pellet, and there are about 60 of them. Not ideal for a 1st time shotgun shooter. To be honest the more I think about this the more worrying it becomes, if the OP is going with the landowner and with the landowners
-
I think the answer will be a resounding YES, but does every single police authority now insist that even a single shotgun has to be kept in a cabinet?, (as against a wire rope jobby that used to be allowed)
-
No harm was meant but I couldn't think of anyway to get the message across any clearer, it is a major concern that you or me could bump into someone like the OP. I'm sure the FEO would have asked the question in some form, if he didn't, well????? I know someone who said "home defence" when asked, been watching to much american tv I guess, he didn't get it granted. Cordon, think about this, these are as acurately as I remember them the words of my 1st FEOfrom over 40 years ago, they stuck with me; "Right you can have your licence, there aren't many rules to abide by, so take ca

Centrefire rifle won't Hold zero
cyclonebri1 replied to Hunter123456's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Well you have the answer, it can't smash the mod if the mod is fitted centerally, unless of course the bore is so rough the point has broken up in the barrel? -
Qd Studs On A Synthetic Stock
cyclonebri1 replied to walshie's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Plenty for sale on ebay chap, for less than a tenner delivered. Had to replace mine when I lost them while re doing my ruger 77 stock. Choice of fitment and length. This was the guy I used http://www.ebay.co.u...75481165&_rdc=1 it was actually less than a fiver. -
You're quite right and I bet there aren't many shooters on here that wouldn't pull the trigger if foxy poked his head up while sat with the .22 waiting for bugsy, on ticket or otherwise
-
youve been granted a shot gun certificate and you have no idea where to legally shoot it did they not ask why you wanted one when they came out to do their interview I'm gobsmacked too, both at that question and the fact that the OP has no idea where if anywhere he can shoot. The basic answer is nowhere that you don't have express permission to shoot, with the exception of a clay pigeon shooting ground. You reaLLY SHOULD HAVE DONE YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE ASKING THIS QUESTION, or you will be ridiculed. You are not ready to begin hunting, by a long chalk, for christ sake get s

Winchester super magnum rimfire
cyclonebri1 replied to tegater's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Just because you don't need one it doesn't mean others won't. There are a whole host of people who shoot from occasional and sports shooters to professionals. It only complicates things if you don't know what you actually want yourself. You are actually saying exactly what I was saying, ie, why confuse or complicate a market sector that is amply covered by available kit, when few incomers are here to allow expansion, they are simply out to convince others that they do need one. -
any body shoot a winchester sxp?
cyclonebri1 replied to vermin shooter's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
:censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: They are not made by Hatsan, thank you very much. But they are made in Turkey. They are not a Turkish gun re-badged as a Winchester. They are a gun designed and checked by Winchester which is why the launch was delayed by almost a year until the spec was exactly as they intended it. Do I have 1, yes of course or I wouldn't have replied that way. What do I think of it? Well I bought a mint 2nd had gun, that I could not tell hade been shot, for £250. Best £250 ever spent in a gun shop. IT is as good as any available pum -
Winchester super magnum rimfire
cyclonebri1 replied to tegater's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Why? Seriously, Why? You want a gun to bash bunnies? get a .22, it also covers other vermin, fox and ground game in my area. You will shoot 10 x more ammo through it than any other calibre ex 12g. A safer but noisier, more expensive bunny gun? that covers the same as above, plus is particularly good for 150yd crows? get the HMR, (stay at home if it's windy). Anything else excluding big deer?, .223 or any other .22 cal. Why make it even more complicated. Well we all know why don't we? less shooters needs more temptation per shooter equates to pressure on existing buyers -
I have .22 and hmr along with centrefire. Both rimmies are listed as for "vermin/fox/ground game, and range........etc" Didn't ask for that specificaly. Derbyshire Police Auth.

But don't let it put you off if you ain't got them, and don't get fixated on shooting the correct barrel 1st. I can shoot any choke badly

3" shells in 2 3/4" gun and proof marks???
cyclonebri1 replied to cyclonebri1's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I miss read the 78.5, it's actually stamped 18.5, and refers to the actuall barrel diameter. Now from my younger days I thought that a standard chamber was 900kp... and a high pressure or "magnum", 1200kp...?? Am I anywhere near?. Yes, the whole issue here is to avoid any possibility of using the wrong length shell? I was just hoping the "78.5" was chamber length, wrong. Will have to search out 2 3/4" bb shells But anyone comment about the type of shell with a very short crimp?, and a wad holdinging down the shot. It's obviously designed to carry a heavy load but in a short -
Good man, :victory: , thing is if some neighbour or old fart or even the local school crossing biddy puts your name in the frame it gets recorded and they WILL question you about it. I'm an old git by your young terms but get this; My renewal was due a few months back. Me? Squeaky clean, (they never caught me ) Totally irrelevant in my mind, but 2 months earlier on walking back from a barbq at a mates I found 3 kids playing chicken on the main road. Blind bend at the top of a busy hill, double white lines for obvious reasons. 3 of these kids were laid head to toe on

If it won't cycle 32/33grm loads you or rather they that sold it to you have a problem. I get 1 no load from maybe 100 29g shells in my non Hatsan gun, acceptable but annoying, your is totally not acceptable and a daRN SIGHT WORSE THAN ANNOYING :censored:

I swore by winchester subs for years, but for absolute accuracy Eley subs group much tighter, 1/2" groups at 60yds against 1 1/2" with winnys. BUT, that's me and my gun, you try 'em all and judge for yourself.

Looks like a trawel through the draws at my local dealer then
