  1. Thing is if you look at what they are originally bred for then it not surprising they need so much exercise. They are a hard core working dog that should be kept by people that have time and passion to work them on a rig. The desire to run is so engrained in them that they cant be let off the lead which means most of them will only ever be going at the owners pace. Sad really, such amazing animals suffering in pet homes because they look nice!
  2. Still bloody hard to find though, seen a few at silly prices. I would love one but have yet to find one over here, would be keen to hear from any one with pups due as well!
  3. Been trying to talk the misses into it! Really like the look of her and the breeding to
  4. Sorry pal, have to disagree, the cute name and fact that its a current trend and people have realized they can cash in are the main reason its happening. I know a fair few people buying into it. Its always the wife wanting it and not one ever mentions 'bred for character' or 'hypo-allergenic', etc. I don't think you can compare dog men breeding for working ability to people breeding for profit on the basis of a cute name and high price tag. I think your right that a couple hundred quid should be the max. At the end off the day Im sure they are all happy with there dogs and no ones getting hurt
  5. Same thing happened to me the other day, just put it down to first time. Only ever been in hutch and running around the yard, it was running around the hedge like a loony and leg it every time I went near. I had a coffee and sat down for a bit and she eventually came out, think she wore her self out, took about an hour little sh!t, lol.
  6. Im planing on getting a pup for bushing and you know how it is when you get into it you end up obsessed, spending hours on line looking at pups. Im probs going to end up with some terrier mix or cross and Im sure some thing will jump out eventually at the right time like they do. But Im gob smacked at the dumb names and dumb prices you see http://www.preloved.co.uk/adverts/show/108292049/bedale-patterdale-x-beagle-puppys.html. My mum just got a working cocker and had met a woman out walking who paid £900 for a cocker poo.
  7. Fingers crossed for you and the dog mate
  8. Use to live up there, plenty about about few years back, not sure what its like now though. Watch out for the choppers, used to see them a lot, got annoyingly close several times when out walking, think they were just having a nose but had a 6 month old baby on me back, was not impressed.
  9. Thanks for the replies all, its a challenging one but im looking forward to getting stuck in to it.
  10. Only have air rifle but am planing on do just that as well
  11. I would but that will have to wait as the pup is only 7 months, will be giving him a few runs towards end of season
  12. I have a new permission and one area is a very substantial hedge that is mainly brambles and as you would imagine still full of nettles. At its deepest it is probs about 8-10ft each side with small trees and very dense and impenetrable. It runs for at least 400 + yards with out any breaks in it. There are dozens of runs but the farmer says they tend to congregate around one end which includes a large pile of logs/trunks about 10 feet long in amongst the brambles. There is a fence in the middle running the length of the hedge and a drainage trench about a foot and a half deep running the length
  13. I just picked up some nets this morning from Andy's home, his wife (top lady!) said the dog was cheesed off because he went rabbiting with out her, lol. Great nets, great price and great service. I won't be going any where else now
  14. They were 80p for 2 so thought I would get them as a treat, mind you I got a nice bag of lamb bones for free so gonna be one happy dog for a few days. Is it ok to freeze the uncooked bones, I cant imagine it effects them like roasting does but thought I would check?
  15. Got myself a mk1 + collar 15ft. What batteries should I buy for the collar? Cheers
  16. Any one ever feed there dogs pig trotters?, these are fresh ones not those dry things you see in pet stores.
