  1. I think its fair to say he don't look like a running dog but i think he's a nice looking dog. I think a lot of people don't understand how sledge dogs would of been used to hunt with as well as pull heavy weights. If it was me I would have to get the dog a sledge harness and one of those scooters they use and get out on the bridal paths. Would get the dog fit as possible and what a scream it would be tearing it up. The extra speed the Greyhound and Suluki would give it you would be flying.
  2. Have a look on this web sight, will give you an idea. http://www.ozziedoggers.org/
  3. I think its a great idea! There was a similar app shown on country file where you could pin point where you had shot a rabbit and could show it to the land owner. Like it or not this kinda stuff is the future and if it does nothing more than give you a comparison to look back on over the years then I think it money well spent.
  4. If your limited on freezer space then maybe you could spend the money on a second hand small chest freezer instead. It will probs cost you less than a decent mincer and you can fit loads of stuff in it rather than having to constantly mince stuff to fill the limited space you have at the mo.
  5. Cheers for the input,! As far as pecking orders and dog behaviour goes we understand that perfectly well! He knows his place in the pecking order! I had my neighbour who is a vet round for a chat last night and talked through what happened with him. He thinks its most likely the food that was a trigger and sugested makeing sure he was never in the room when food was about. Thats easier said than done when you have a 3 year old that permenantly has food in his hand! My wife is addament he has to go and I totaly agree with her as far as not feeling like you can trust him anymore, its a horribl
  6. Well i never ever thought my dog would have done it but this morning he bit my wife! He was at a plate on the coffe table that my son had been eating from so she sternly told him of put her hand out toward him to push him away and he just turned on her and bit her hand. If I had'nt seen it I would not of belived it, he has always been such a chilled out dog. The wife has got a few small bruises but more upset than anything else. The bottom line is though I have a three year old son and as much as it kills me Im just not prepared to risk it happening to the little fella so the dog has to go!
  7. are you sure shes not with young ? no def not expecting, the chap I got them off said she had her season not that long ago. I wondered if she was having a phantom pregnancy but apparently she has been over wait for some time. He said that she would nab most of the food. They were being fed from one tiny bowl and i think with her being the dominant one she was get her fill.
  8. When I was a kid I always wanted an air rifle, my folks were dead against it, my old man was a military man but was very anti guns, i used to hide pen knifes from him. I think he was worried I would turn into a rong un. Anyways, I love to cook and developed an interest in game and then an interest in finding my own which is why i now have a lurcher, air rifle and just got some ferrets. It the whole hunter gather thing for me, find it, kill it and turn it into some thing tasty, what could be more natural!
  9. I just got my first 2 and I think the smell is quite nice, a bit sweet! The misses thinks they stink, not that I care!
  10. she's pretty chunky, when i pick her up i cant touch my thumb and for finger together. Mind she is a sweet little thing! I must add these are my first ferrets but had afriend come and check them out and he was a bit shocked at how big she was. Bloody great little things though, the dog has taken to them really well to so im chuffed!
  11. Thanks for that I have no intension of keeping them on dry food and hopefully they will be catching there own very soon!
  12. hI, I have taken on 2 ferrets and one is very fat. They have been fed on dry food. any sugestions on the best way to get the wait off?
  13. Hi mate, had a look online at this lamp to see how long the battery lasts and it says 1.5 hours, I want some thing that lasts a bit longer, sorry, atb.
  14. Hi mate, just to be clear is the price for the full set up, battery, lamp and charger? What power and how long does the battery last?
  15. I always go for beef on the bone because the flavour is much better. If i'm cooking a three rib piece of fore rib, i let it come to room temp first. Season with plenty of cracked black pepper and sea salt. Place it in your roasting tin so that it's standing on its bones, and add a bit of beef stock, a glass of red wine, thyme, and more pepper. Now then, if you like your beef rare then roast in a hot oven without a lid on the tin. But if you like meat that melts off the bones, then stick a lid on the roasting tin and place in a hot oven, but then turn it down immediately to 150 degrees and coo
  16. I make several batches and vary between 150 and 200 grams per lt same with the gin. I use several dif vodkas and gins just to have a bit of choice and its more fun trying em out with your mates.
  17. Rib on the bone for me, nice and rare! Should find loads of recipes if you type it into google. Plenty advice on times etc!
  18. Thanks for the replies, the dogs 7/8 whippet 1/8 beddy almost 2 years old and yes we are def having a lot of fun. Thanks for the advice
  19. Ok, took my dog along some public foot paths around some new fields today next to a new place im moving into just to have a mooch. Now where we normaly walk there is never anything apart from the odd hare. It was clear right away that there was a lot more about from all the rabit runs through the brush and the fact that my dog was running around going nuts. Never seen him so excited before, he was picking sent up all over the place and seemed to be darting around like a mad man. Me being very new to this and it being our first season I was wondering if this is normal and will he settle down a
  20. Should be plenty of blackberries about now in the hedgerows and plenty more to come. Sloes are looking good if you can find them but a lot of people wait for a frost before picking then which gives you time to find them first. Where I live they are like gold dust and people keep there patch close to there chests. Lots of tasy things to be made with the blackberries and sloe gin and vodka is one of life's great joys
  21. a mate and me picked about 7 kilos yesterday and plenty left to pick. Big fat and juicy, its like october up where i live but will put them in the freezer for a week first then rather than use a pin i grab a handful at a time and shove a fork in em to save time. I make gin and vodka but prefer the vodka as it smoother but to much sugar makes it like syrup. I guess its trial and error but thats the fun. The best advise i had was to buy good gin and cheap vodka, last year used bombay saphire gin and imperial vodka an was well happy with both.
