Top left is definitely Fly Agaric [Amanita muscaria] and is indeed poisonous. they contain muscimol, a powerful and dangerous hallucinogen Wikipedia entry
Staffman the wood is on Keddies estate, between Rochford and Hawkwell, its actual name is potash wood. I used to manage the paintball site there for years.
thank yer other half for me geoff, i'm crap at identifying flowers
Thank u kay I missed the previous years bluebell carpet, and made damn sure I caught it this year, same wood is smothered in snowdrops a month or so earlier. theres a wood about 1/2 mile from there that is absolutely covered with bluebells. I'll do my best to get there next spring and get a lot more pics
Heres another pic of those white flowers in case anyone can put a name to em
Till I can get out and get some pics from around rugby where I moved to a coupla months ago. Here's some more stuff from my forays in Essex earlier this year.
If anyone can tell me what the white flowers are, I'd be grateful [i suck at flower recognition ]
woodies are built like little tanks, headshots are the only way as Taff said. I've hit em with .22 hollowpoints at 10 yards or less and despite firing from elevation and hitting beside the neck putting the round deep into their chest they get up a few seconds later. with .177 you just dont have the punch to drop them without hittin the little buggers in the bean.
good luck n happy hunting
The only woodies left within a mile of me are the ones that aren't daft enuff to see free bread on the lawn outside my bedroom window and think 'oooh look free bread.... that looks safe'
Ello peeps, I got one of these on order (the gunshop i use is bein madcrap at gettin it in) I wondered if anyone else has one and what ya think of em ?
Took these last summer in Essex.
I believe its a female stag beetle, but if anyone knows otherwise I'd be happy to find out exactly what sort o beetle it is
Got the scope and a set of hawke mountin rings for £90, Paid £418 for the HW90k, which is a little steep from what I been told, but thas life and i'm still a bit noob at it all
If you put the rifle away in the gunbag/case without letting it get to about the same temperature as indoors or inside the bag, it will attract some condensation [even a teeny bit can be enuff to let rustspots start] If you bag your gun in a lovely fleecy bag and it gets all snuggly n warm moisture thats seeped into gaps or the like can 'sweat' out and start rustspots too.
If you can get hold of some little bags of silica gel [the stuff they put in boxes of electronic goods etc] and keep them in the gunbag, they suck up moisture like nobodys business. outta make sure the inside of the bag is as moisture free as poss. Try askin in a local PC shop or currys, thasts where i got the ones i use.
Ello all, just moved to the midlands, mother in law has 100 acres I can shoot. Got a HW90 and a scope on order . However I'm not exactly a master hunter so any help, advise or stuff would be handy
