  1. My heart says yes as nice pup and I know guy trusts me to give it a good home but my head says do I want 12 week pup cause hassle lol guys say he will keep for me for another two weeks as I am moving house at moment
  2. I have just had telephone call offering me first refusal of a 12 week old pup as owner wive has been diagnosed with terminal ill ness and he won't have time for it now he is heart broken to be getting rid of pup but and hanging his hunting boots up for good and iam tempted to take it as tidy pup and have bought pups from this person before and they have turned out to be top dogs in my eyes but am I ready for a sulky pup round house again lol
  3. I think as saluki can have a very shy nature you need to get them socialised as soon as as if left the shyness can't turn in to fear and sometime even aggression in wrong hands I have seen a couple being dog aggressive due to this
  4. I don't rate the fens or there dogs mate when I said real dog men ment to mean most of the guys on here who seem to have used them and seem to favour saluki hybrids by recent post about saluki dogs and in know way ment you were not a real dog man and as I favour saluki hybrids I in no way think iam better than any other dog men or consider myself more of a dog man cos a favour these dogs in my opine I have found through the years that these saluki hybrids will work night after night on all game and do well on them And there abilities can't be ignored or just say they are pish !!! ( without
  5. Total pish,if you cannot jack a Saluki hybrid you will never find enough graft for a proper bred Collie/cur.Ive owned and worked both types for "3" decades now, geez i bent and bruised them at times, the Saluki hybrids skulked and sulked when they got taxed, the Collie/curs took it in their stride, fed, rested, then went around again. You must have owned Hancock or Otley bred herding bred. Its naive to even talk about jacking a dog, nuggets jack dogs, others work them within their limitations, for year after year after year, even a decade or 2,not the same dog mind, ill leave that to the bull owners that a
  6. lol everybody can stop mate I stopped after 27 years never felt better mate I should of done it years ago
  7. I owned a dog breed by the hunting loon and it never used to bugger aff when lamping was first saluki lurcher I ever owned now I never own anything without saluki it never left my side until told to but it was c**t until it was about 19 months lol but true lurcher that would be happy on any quarry not just a slip dog proper all rounder not bragging just stating fact don't be to harsh to judge them yes they are c**ts when's pups but they dont stay pups forever
  8. Nice markings alway favour saluki in my dogs you can see there saluki in those dogs bet all be good but don't know if I would go for same cross as the loon there mite be to much in mix there loon ?
  9. Both handsome pups lads what cross is it Steve and how old is it mate ?
  10. not many guys importing working lines from Dubai and Sudai arab I bet ?
  11. I feel pure bred whippets don't have enough in them for very rough terrian just like Prue greyhounds so for lamping on rough terrian i whould always go for whippet cross instead mate atb
  12. "Nice Litters",are bred to be "nice" and are seldom the sort of litter that are bred with an hunting edge,to suit "hunters".Id source an honest hunting bred litter, less nice, yet more productive in the field, for every honest litter there will be another bakers dozen that never see heat?.But just remember some nice litter do graft to mate,at the end of the day if that the breed you fancy don't jump into the 1st litter you see.if need be travel to find the one that catchers your attention mate it doesn't hurt to look as you don't have to comit to buy mate.but there is some good whippets about mat
  13. yes I know but question was just out of interested as first cross saluki would be heavy saturated with saluki what dog breed would you use as the lurcher had to start somewhere before adding 5 different dogs in mix was just out of interested but I won't post again as too many ready to tear holes in topics bye lads enjoy site
  14. what about saluki x collie /greyhound / whippet /bull/wheeten / beddy / deerhound / wolfhound / pug ? Lol
  15. After reading topic about a saluki worth hassle I have been lucky to seen Prue salukis work and I would say know one can doubt this breeds ability in the field but I would say I have seen heavy saluki base lurchers offer more then the prue breed in the field so if you guys could cross any dog with a Prue saluki what would it be to give you the ultimate first cross saluki lurcher?
  16. Think most dogs have saluki in blood lines somewhere now but hard to find ones without saluki up my way so we just put up with there odd behaviour lol always wondered where this saluki blood comes from as I never see any saluki dogs about so I believe lots only have a hint of saluki and still f***ing pain in the arse lol but think hunting is percent down to dog ability 19 percent down to food 1 percent for the dickhead holding lead to know when to let go lol
  17. Hi lads thought I would give you a update on this dog turns out the lad has now found a family member to take dog so I will not have pleasure of owning this handsome hound but iam glad he has found a good home as all to often these dogs seem to be sent animal shelters seem to always be full of them and staffy type dogs thanks for advise about this breed and has maybe think about making room in my kennel for one next year as they are stunning looking dogs and seem to be workers atb
  18. What cross is she as this could have something to do with it as some take longer to mature and also you could be expecting to much from a dog that is not 100 per cent fit also loon asks good question as I have seen dogs entered to early to work and seen them burnt out and dog won't catch a cold and guys sell them at around 18 months and if dog rested and you work on fitness and give only a few runs the nest season they are back on there( A GAME) but as no mention of these points could be hard for guys on here to give you best answer its still young dog don't right her off yet mate maybe a few
  19. Got to agree we hunting loon they can be a b*****d but he sold me a frist cross saluki greyhound it was around 2.5 year old when my dog got stolen as I needed a field ready dog and to be honest i do not think there would be a dog to match it hunting sense was crazy seem to know where it quary would run before it did that's how the b*****d got me hooked on saluki cross lurchers I will let you guys know about dog thanks for info guys atb
  20. I really don't need a another dog but I rather give a good home to a dog . I may suggest hanging on to it till for guy as I have room in kennels until he get his sel sorted as hate him to give up a dog and find in a months time he could of manage to keep it after all
  21. why is saluki not a good mix with this breed mate ?
  22. Guys I have just been offered a 18 month first cross wheaten x saluki buy a guy down my local as landlord told him to ask me as he knows I work my lurchers turns out guy can keep it due to splitting up with his wive now he tells me this dog needs to go to working home only due to it breeding and work ethic I have met the dog etc but I have heard they can be very dog or animal aggressive also very vocal any guys who keep them advise me any pit falls to the breed although it seems to get on ok with my pack and has been going out on lamp for rabbits it's 26 ths just want to really know how easy t
