Rain has put an end to setting the net up,, managed to splice the lines then it started to piss it down, plenty of kill in it though,,
-
Aye, braided nylon Fred. Makes an excellent net,,

3/4 was knitted inside the fork lift cabin?,, so it's a "there time net" more or less,, I've always preferred a spun nylon, as it's nice to knit with, problem is that it's so damned expensive these days,, that net cost £60 for the twine, but hopefully a few meshed rabbits will ease the pain ?,, my plan is to rig it today,, that's if I don't hit the drink,, and I'll put up a picture of the new D splicer tool,, basically a bit of wire with a moulded pull handle,, wish I thought about the moulded bit years ago,, probably be rich by now ?, Did you get any of the 0.25 braid? Makes a lovely ne

Hope so regarding the catching,, ?,, just need to get my fat arse in gear, ?,,

That's it all knitted,, eventually,, the place of employment has actually had me working full hours,, damned cheek,, anyway its 58 yards, which I'll set back to 25 yards,, if the weather's okay I'll get the lines and end pins added tomorrow.

4 1/8th stretched Fred,, so your spot on regarding the half mesh,, this spun twine has a fair stretch to it so this mesh size suits..

I'll try my best,, be daylight rabbits though,, if I'm lucky enough,,..

yards,, it should have been,, can't work out how to edit the comment,, you can see the fuzzy texture of the twine,, I have been noticing recently on ebay and that face book place folk advertising 6z spun nylon purse nets,, no such thing,, entirely different twine,, I have been busy re-stitching the rings onto these nets that folk were duped into buying,, its not right imo,, false advertising. Anyway rant over.

Slowly getting there,, think I'll knit around yards then set it back to 35 yards, I've chosen a 4 1/8th mesh on the stretch and when I add the selvedge mesh will be 15 deep, damned expensive these days is the spun nylon twine and getting harder to source, but its for myself, once I get it finished I'll post up a few pictures,, and a picture of my new splicing tool when I join the lines,, thinking a nice 1.5mm line, or 2mm max.

Latest batch ready to post back to there owner,, so from this.

I offer a re-rigging service regarding re-stitching rings and renewing cords on sheet netting jobby's,, here's just a couple of examples.
-
No problemo pal,, I'm sure I have a few nice sizes of mesh that will meet your needs,,, Regards Bill

I'm doing them separate, 2 deep, once stitched together the reinforced edges act like a line, saves adding any cord. The reason for this style is that it saves any hassle sourcing polyester braid as if a nylon braid is used it will shrink slightly after a wetting, which upsets the rig (stitching). The needle is a Norwegian Formfinder Brand, near enough the same as the American Loomis needles.

Not in square mesh I'm afraid.
-
That time again to get a few Trammels rigged, weather permitting of course.
-
Keep the work short, do not knit to far from the anchor point,, a simple loop of braid is all that's needed, thread the braid through the meshes, this now becomes the new anchor point.
-
I like 1.5 up to 2mm,, 1.8mm,, is my favourite though.

Top quality 4ft 10z nylon purse nets,, £2.50 per net . Black and silver 1 1/4" rings, stitched on correctly with 2mm braided nylon cord.
-
Only in white Mr. W,, plus you need to take care whilst adding a dye as it will shrink,, so select the mesh board size,, the 20/12 makes a nice net,, single strand, the 0.25mm needs a double knot,, not the shitty so called double knot,, Carrick whatever they call it,, single knot it then throw a hitch on top,,

Think I'm the only chap to have used 5z,, maybe Mr. Nelson will think about it,, its a lovely twine,, best of both imo,, those who don't like 6z and those who don't like the 4z,, something to think about,, might end the 4 & 6,,? ,,

I've always favoured the bigger mesh as long as the twine has virtually no stretch to it,, think we all used the 4" when the nylon sheets came available,, worked just fine so they did, though the twine at the time had a stretch to it,, many years ago when I was out a few times I used 4 1/2", in 5z nylon,, this sheeting was sourced from the USA,, and it was superb,, minimal stretch and caught really well, one could clean a net a lot faster and I also found less mending was needed regarding repairs, that alone was a bonus,, if any rabbits did make escape then good luck to them as they must have
