  1. I personally wouldn't use anything above 6z ,, the mesh size are usually 4" to 4 1/4" (full mesh) .
  2. Most will just buy a set up or sheets of machine made netting ,, doubt many folk are kicking them by hand these days ,, I'm knitting one at present,, but just doing a bit now and then ,, you can buy the sheets ,, 4z nylon up to 12z from advanced nets who have a web page ,, think they are out of stock at present though ,, but probably due a delivery soon
  3. Well done ,,nice weather to which is a bonus.
  4. Found a a few spools of this thin braided nylon,, been a while since I knitted a long net so I will knit a bit now and again and see what length I end up with ,, be a nice net to handle.
  5. That's just a yard or two of lead line that's hanging onto the wash line pole .. I only use lead line for fishing gear,, Regards.
  6. Have you a picture of the one you have ? A trammel properly rigged has excellent catching ability, Regards.
  7. Well done mate,, always a great bonus when you also pick up more ground to work.
  8. The square walls are knitted using 0.75mm braided nylon,, the inner mesh is 4z sheet netting, Regards
  9. Just need to add a dye ,, pole it up and get it ready for the season, 25 yards set length ,,
  10. Were popular up this end many years ago ,, the old boys called them veil nets ..
  11. Knitted up a couple of these square meshed sheets for a lad ,, good fun using these nets on open sets .
  12. Came across a few yards of sheet netting, few yards of dark and light green in 4z and a few yards of red/brown shade in 6z ,, so I stitched them all together and rigged up a nice 25 yard Trammel Net .
  13. Stick to diamond mesh Folk reckon square mesh was is in long nets many moons ago , maybe they did but I have never seen or used one or know anyone in the past and present who have You will still need to add the slack ,if you are up for giving one a go .
  14. Them silver rabbits have sharp teeth ?
  15. Been saying that for years regarding hugging the ground,, and you are spot on regarding the running kill ?
  16. I can't understand the slack bottom line either,, a couple of inches maybe but when it's yards ? it's very strange indeed, fks up the net so it does ,, fk setting with a wind that line will rise and blow around like an old torn pair of Y Fronts ,, I've re-rigged quite a few nets with the same problem you have ,, as you say it doesn't take long to sort but I'd rather not have that problem to start with . Regards.
  17. Stunning scenery, definitely well worth the miles that you put in ..
  18. I do miss the night time netting ,, definitely a thing of the past up this end ,, a combination of the lack of rabbits and no one having the interest . The couple of traditional nets that I still have will be converted into a pre-set style .
  19. Definitely less folk venturing out in the dark ,, at least you gave it a go and that's all that matters .
  20. Probably a bit late ,, but I know a bloke who also makes cracking wires ,,
