    In the early sixties a shotgun licence was ten bob (50p) and you just bought it at the post office! It was just a piece of paper, like a dog licence. A dog licence was 7/6 in old money, (37p). I bought my first Shotgun in 1963 for 6 pounds from a second hand shop and just walked into the town center with the gun broken over my arm with no cover. I walked into the post office with the gun and bought a licence and nobody batted an eyelid (I was fifteen years old). God, I am an old sod.

    In England a deerhound cross Greyhound used to be called a "Staghound cross" In fact a pure bred Staghound is like a large foxhound and being a scent hound, was hunted in packs Very few people call a deerhound cross a Staghound. A deerhound and a Staghound are very different. These days a deerhound cross is a deerhound cross! If you were to use a pure Staghound for breeding you would probabley have to breed a second Generation back to Greyhound for pace.

    Sorry mate I don't have any photos. I have looked it up on the net and it is a Micronta very low frequency detector Model no 63-3003 It's in mint condition. I bought it a couple of years ago but I have never used it.

    Hi 5teve, I am also a member of Blackburn Rifle & Pistol Club. I go with my wife on Thursday nights ( my wife shoots a Hw100KTand a Buckmark semi-auto .22lr) and I have a Hw100, a Daystate Huntsman and a CZ 452 bolt action .22lr. If I can help in any way let me know, also Bob and Neil at the club are very helpful and will put you right. If you are there on a Thursday night you can have a go with one of our rifles, this may help you to choose a rifle.

    I miss read your post Bolio1, My apologies. Somewhere in my system (Computer) I still have some of the reports I wrote regarding the various finals, one of which is the final between Splodge and Tina and if I can find how to copy and paste onto the Post from word I will send them in. Some of the coursing lads might find them of interest

    I believe that chris's Captain never ran in the Forley Cup. Was not that incident where Captain crossed onto another fen in a different comp? Chris ran Sploge in the Forley and sploge was runner up twice and here is where my memory might be suspect but was it to Pick and the second time to Tina. Happy Days.
