Desertbred, I fully concur with your last post and as I already knew, you have a lot to offer. I look forward to our cup of tea (and if we are lucky, my wife Barbara might supply some cake) People like yourself and others, Leeview, flynn, Giro, Dewclaw69 and others that I may have missed, sorry if I have, are the backbone of any endeavor to bring about change. In the first instance, subject to agreement, I put forward the name "the Alliance for the Working Longdog" This would be the name to be used by a steering group to get the ball rolling. I have the documentation needed to present "the All

Thank you for your honesty maxhardcore, I respect that. Desertbred, I do not doubt your integrity, but what the ALC has done in the past is not as important as what WE will do in the future. I have already stated that the ALC was of it's time and now we must move on and speak for the individual, not only clubs, at the same time we must keep all the contacts and support that twenty years of fighting the antis has given us.. My objection to a Private meeting is that many other Lurcher/longdog owners also have legitimate questions and I cannot meet them all privately. Whether the ALC last had a

Dewclaw69 speaks an awful lot of sense. only by working together can we move forward and undo the damage that has already been done. As for a private meeting with dersertbred, I do not think that private meeting between two people would as much to the point as a meeting of all interested parties. A private meeting would only lead people to think that we are in it for self interest. I am sure that people like dersertbred, flynn, leeview, Giro, maxhardcore, and many others have a lot to offer. We need this input, and in an open way, not by private meetings. Alan Tyer

Now Children, You all want the same bloody thing for christ sake. There seems to be two camps forming when there should be only one. We must all work together to fight for the repeal of the hunting ban. What will arguing about a government text achieve at this time? For the moment, let us sort out the way forward together. What experience, contacts and knowledge I have, is available to you all and likewise there are some very clever men & women with equal knowledge and perhaps more ability than I, They have a massive amount of that skill and knowledge to share. All Lurcher/Longdog owner

I have just had a pm from dewclaw and thank him for his support and interest in the ALC.

I have contacted See view and Flynn and sent a round robin e-mail, where I have stated my thoughts on the current situation. I am very happy to see such commitment from Lurcher/Longdog owners.and I throw my hat into the ring to help move forward in any way any action to repeal the hunting ban, The time for glory hunting is gone. What matters now, is the help and support for the working Lurcher/Longdog owner and the repeal of the hunting ban!! I am fully aware that the name Association of Lurcher Clubs is in it's self a problem. The name Association of Lurcher clubs means exactly that an Assoc

The time for arguing between our selves has gone! The association of Lurcher Clubs has all the connections and the Countryside Alliance has not, repeat has not discarded the ALC, also the ALC is a long time member of the Council of Hunting Associations. The Council of Hunting Associations is the main body Supporting and promoting all forms of hunting. The voice of the Association of Lurcher clubs is as loud as any other form of hunting. There are some that seem more interested in a name change, but the ALC is known and respected to all hunting associations. Change the format, the club rules,

I have had a number of PM's asking about membership, etc. What we have to remember is that the ALC was formed as a association of Lurcher clubs. This was right for the time and the fight we had on our hands. We the Lurcher owners also had a second fight! That of being accepted as an organised Field sport. This has never been more important than now. As we have seen, not all Lurcher/Longdog owners are poachers. Many are there who want to hunt their game with the full permission of the land owner and working under a strict code of conduct. These men and women are the future of Lurcher work in all

Well, Well, At last after nearly twenty years the dragon awakes. the Association of Lurcher Clubs is accepted by both the Countryside Alliance and the Council of Hunting Associations as the governing body for Lurcher/Longdog work. As Chairman of the Association I sit on the board of the Council of Hunting Associations on whose behalf I have attended meetings in the House of Commons and At the head office of the Countryside Alliance in Kennington road in London and have direct contact with the Countryside Alliance. Before the Ban the Association of Lurcher Clubs (ALC) was one of the biggest

Well said Barrie, I have worked with Barrie for quite a number of years. Barrie as the chairman of the" National working Terrier Federation" (NWTF) and myself as chairman of the "Association of Lurcher Clubs" (ALC). We have spent many long hours in Westminster supporting our respective organisations and more to the point, each others organisation. The fight must go on, we cannot, we must not fight among ourselves. We now have a chance to continue to fight. If you believe that the Hunting with Hounds people are against us (I believe wrongly), then join in the fight and show them that we too

I agree with everything Barrie says. If we don't fight and lobby our MPs we are lost!! The next step is to F*&k off the scottish MPs. Due to them we now have to wait for an amendment. English MPs should be the only ones to vote on English Laws. Alan

I am away for a few days, but will give a full reply to the doubters when I get back. Let us have some positive post in the meantime. Alan. P.S. Where are all the ex members of the ALC who enjoyed the good times and know the benefits of organisation?

As Chairman of the Association of Lurcher Clubs I have just finished a Conference call meeting with the Council of Hunting Associations(CHA) The subject was the Debate on Thursday next week off an amendment to the Hunting Ban. What will this mean? The amendment, as I understand it, will mean that hunts can use more than two hounds to flush a mammal (Fox or Hare) to waiting guns, which means that hunting with hounds will be able to carry on using a full pack. Until now a full pack could only be used for trail hunting. So it will then be legal for a full pack in pursuit of a fox/Hare. An a

Living in the Greater Manchester Police area, I have always been more then happy with the service from their Firearms unit. When I last sent off for a variation last year, I posted the application off on a Monday afternoon and received it back completed on the Wednesday morning. Great service! until now. I had a .22 Hornet single shot rifle that was not getting the use it should, due to the fact that I also had a CZ 527 .22 Hornet that I love and it was always the first to go to. I am a lover of the CZ and the more I have seen of the CZ 455 t/hole with the varmint barrel, the more I want

Bought some alkenet oil to refinish a rifle stock, It work fine but seemed a little weak. I have since bought some alkenet root to make my own oil. I know to steep the root in Linseed/turps oil 4-1 mix, but what is the method? What ratio of root to linseed oil? and how long do I leave it?

Winny Subs, Old Blue Box V New Black.
courser replied to courser's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I do not clean the barrel of my CZ 452 as a rule, but I will try again when next I visit the range. With the clean barrel I will fire ten fouling shots of black box winnies and then twenty four shots in groups of three and will note the problems. I will then clean the barrel and do the same with the last few rounds of blue winnies and then again with Eley Practice. All at fifty meters. We will see what we will see. courser. -
I know that this has been discussed before but After two years of shooting Winchester super X (Blue Box) subs in my CZ 542 with great results, I bought two bricks of the new black box. What a difference!! The new black are terrible!! one in three will not cycle or they will not eject and I have to use a cleaning rod to push them out. After the first session I measured the few blue box I had left and the black to compare. The black box bullets were on average 4 thou longer, could this be the reason? I tried again at the next session, but with some Eley as backup. With the winny's, same

Browning Buckmark V Ruger 10/22 ?
courser replied to courser's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I already have a CZ 452 with the Rinfire magic trigger kit and I am very happy with it The reason I ask is that my wife has a Browning Buckmark and uses it very well. I have just bought her a 10/22 for a silver wedding present ( it has a stainless "Silver" Barrel. would you believe) I have taken to the Ruger and I am interested in the after market upgrades for one, But I have no knowledge on it's accuracy. It is getting near my birthday ( guess what I may get?) so I might as well learn as much about the Ruger 10/22 as I can. I also have a T/C contender .223 single shot, a T/C Encore .22 Ho -
