In gerneral stamina comes with fitness, but it isnt as simple as that,, as a sprinter will be very fit, but he will not have the stamina of a long distance runner, so there fore breeding does have a great effect on stamina. Breed in stamina with the collie blood or the saluki blood for the big ears, get the dog fit with work, and he will have good stamina for the job you want him for. When a dog gets clued up to its job it wll run cunning and therefore waste less energy leaving more fuel in the tank, increased ability to go on, stamina must not be relied on just because a dog is bred a cer

Do doesnt look 29tts to me, more like 22tts.

Jumpers are made not bred,,doesnt matter what lines its off, if it aint been brought on correct it will not jump,,easier to teach as a pup than a adult dog. I put a fence inside and across the dogs run as pups, and i put the food and drink at the otherside, if they want it they will have to get over it somehow, first they climb over it , then as the grow they jump over, at which point i hire the fence, and repeat untill i reach a good height. They naturally become used to jumping, then when in the feild it is nothing strange to them.

That dog looks like hes got fire in his belly, looks ideal for the bigger stuff or the back biters, althought for a more versatile dog i would have it put back to a straight or 3/4 greyhound. so thefrore the same result could have been acheived with one mating of a deerhoundgrey x bullgrey.

Like you say most people tend to use the greyhound or whippet for the baseline in general lurcher breeding. Probably due to the fact that they are readily available and a safe bet in terms of predictability of the outcome of the offspring. I think that a first cross saluki x bull may produce a lot of wastage in the litter, but if you did get the wright type out of this breeding it maybe a good dog, but if you used a bullgery instead you maywell get less wastage. TRY IT AND FIND OUT.

I saw 4 all togeher the other night on a local golf course, one of them was the biggest badger ive ever seen, it was huge.

"Just know great Dane was put into them, if i remember wrightly too get more height, obviously this was breed back down, untill desired, iam not sure if it was as early as the 1800s ? Either way i doubt there is as much fire in the breed now as there was years ago just like many breeds i surpose, we can only work with what we have got,, the kennel club have unintentional bred out the fire in many many breeds in exchange for there surposed good conformation standards. take the SBT for instance, the blood lacks fire and drive and is a shadow of its former self, i would never cosider using a SBT

Agree with you there mate,, not many real mccoy ridgebacks about, and there does seem to be a big variation in conformation,, my mate had a ridgeback surposed to be pedigree lines etc,, and to me it looked like a stightly overweight small great dane.

A 3 month old pup cousing and chasing rabbits ??????? never heard so much rubish in my life,, its a good way to make a yapper if ever there was one, a dog will never come to terms with its quarry at this age,, miss loads get dishearterned start yapping, or just refuse to run stuff near cover. The dog will also huntup, not good when you come to enter it to the lamp. UNFIT you are really talking silly mate,

Buy Dextrose powder,, add to water in a bottle and shake,,faster absorbtion of sugars than a mars bar. Glad the dog is ok.

Nah no saluki in that dog i doubt it back in them times the saluki blood would have been too much of a liability, pot fillers in them days collie geys put to whippets and back to one another,, proper pot filler, obidient and clever and reliable.

Sorry, James - I was only joking about the Great Dane Merle24 - Great Dane may well have gone into the development of the RR, back in the 1800s, but they won't have been used by decent breeders in living memory. I can't see many people deliberately trying to increase the height of the breed. The standard calls for a bitch of 24-26 inches tts and a dog 25-27 inches tts. The reason that the height is restricted is that you start to lose athleticism when they start to get too big, and the breed was developed to be a hunting dog that would also protect the homesteads. I've had RRs for nearly

Ridgeback cross would have been a good cross years ago for the bigger stuff i reckon, but since they got greatdane blood put to them to increase the height i think it messed the breed up,, you still see ridgeback these days with greatdane peering through. another breed f****d up imo,, fire been bred out, just like whats happened to the sbt imho.

It will not make a blind bit of differance mate, ireprable damage has already been done, it would take 150 years to get this country back to something like,, the goverment and the banks and natural human greed is to blame for the state we are now in, uncalled for wars, slack imagration policies to fill a void of cheap labour, increased taxes, and silly bank managers,, the list goes on and on, not to mention the mp scanals on the expenses front, a complete disgrace, and who picks up the bill for this ???? yes the taxpayer,, its a neverending circle of stupidity and greed which it going to be ve

The countryside and the history and heratige of Great Britain, this is the only good thing just about left about Britain,, the country has been abused and moulded into a horiffic state by the tax ungry bent and corupt goverment. make the most of what good things we have left i say, because they will soon be gone and lost forever like alot of things already have.

Thats a sound price for a working bred lurcher,, but,, if he is youre mate and hes says you can have it cheap then i reckon £50 - £100 is about wright, taking in to consideration the price hes selling the rest for.. as this is less than half price,,

No amount of roadwork will tighten those feet up mate, its just the way they are, and the weight of the dogs frame,,,as already stated if youve seen a few bull xs you would know that..flatish feet are common in this cross,, its nothing to do with lack of road work atall.
