  5. A lot of the islands have a different law to the mainland of Scotland. Udals law I think it is called were the owner of the land at the high water mark actually owns the foreshore down to the low water mark.
  6. It depends if your inland or foreshore shooting?

  9. I'm sure there was something in the BASC magazine last year about it too. Some sort of disease and it wasn't recommended to eat it!!!!
  10. I have been told by someone who ran the lightning steel over a chronograph that they are closer to 1450 fps. Even at that they will be more than effective.
  11. Yes and no. You can't fire it through Damascus barrels. If you look at the BASC mag it tell you the difference between standard steel and high performance steel. Standard steel shot can be fired through any gun bar Damascus and high performance steel can ONLY be fired through steel proved guns. All steel cartridge boxes should be stamped either standard or high performance. Hope this helps....
  12. If the ducks are coming into it at night i wouldnt bother with decoys, to much extra weight to carry. Having said that if you have your heart set on using your decoys use them it wont do any harm, it wont matter what decoys you use, just having any out will make the ducks more confident. Good luck with it.
  13. ive got one but i find you get a glare off the rifle barrel making it useless mounted on the scope, the reason i got it was to do away with someone having to be onlamp duty!!!!
  14. get hevishot if you can afford it!!!! was it factory loads you were using?? just reread your post you cant use lead on foreshore anyway!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. are you talking about the ones that scatter the feed into the ponds themselves?they are set on a timer. wild duck use the scatter ones.a lot of people use them in ponds that they cant feed easily ie ones that are a long distance away and they dont have the time to hand feed the pond. i havent personally used one but i know of people that have and they recommend them. think that you can buy them at www.tidepool.co.uk

    hevi-shot

hi crecca my 3" 42gram load is a homeload v max i totally agree with you mate nothing can touch hevishot it is the best for geese.its just when my stock runs out i cant afford to buy it again but i know that my steel homeloads will kill out to very long ranges and so i have no probs using it.it works for me i cant knock it. i see where your coming from too mark i just believe that a 10 bore is more capable for firing steel shot with the big pellets for geese just my opinion cheers

    hevi-shot

hevishot will kill further than most of us can shot accuratly (say between 40 to 60 yards). hevishot is also very expensive but if your getting a 10 bore or 12 3 1/2" you can load cheaper steel shot and still shoot geese at very long ranges although with my experience youll have to use fast loads with aftermarket chokes to hold the pattern together.you can look on american reloading sites for good reloading data. that said i do use a hevishot 12g 3" 42gram load for my foreshore goose work and never feel that i need anything bigger but when my stock runs out il switch to steel quite
