  1. i feed mine on orijen dry with raw meat mixed in, usually minced chicken or lamb with veg from landywoods, i found that any other dry food gave my three dogs dry skin and a dull coat, they also get raw meaty bones every second day and meat off cuts from butchers once a week,, their happy
  2. use dust free wood shavings throughout the entire hutch, then use hay or rabbit bedding - its combination of paper and wool the ferrets love it! you can use hamocks etc if you have a mesh roof on your hutch, nice to see someone who actually researches BEFORE getting an animal all the best with your fezzers xx

  4. my hob ferret got out once and i came home after looking for half a day to find my neighbour giggling sitting on a box cut a long story short it was my hob massive relief! and another time i had a jill slip under the gate during loose exercise, in the space of 5 mins for me to get round to the front she'd pinned a tom cat to the bin!! cats aren't the biggest worry at all its more likely to be the other way round,, it must be horrible to experience to go through and i really hope you get this ferret back, as previously said put lots of posters up and ring vets, pet shops, police, and re

  13. well said brother! i have a half cross whippet bitch, she's approx 22" and shows mostly whippet, i've worked her in snow, rain, wind etc i've been out walking and got caught in a massive thunder and lightning storm complete with hail stones i'll be honest i was more bothered about the weather then the dog was! lol get your self a pire whippet from good working lines, there is a difference between kc whippets, racing whippets and working whippets, make sure you get working type and you'll be very happy feel free to pm me on advice as to which breeding would suit and please note i do
  14. i would suggest to seperate kits from the jill,, that way it will easier to tame them and they wont learn the same behaviour of the mother well done to you taking them on, i must confess i would have done the same bedding wise put wood shavings throughout the entire hutch, sleeping area and run, then in the sleeping area pop a good layer of bedding in, theres a wool/paper ferret friendly thats brilliant or you could use shredded paper or dust free hay,, put plenty of bedding in as they like to make a nest out of it otherwise i wish you all the best with your litter and hope the j
  15. i know! i can't wait but i will certainly be having my hands full, got homes for four already sorted and i'll be keeping a hob and jill out of this litter then if theres any extras will have to be rehomed i am very fussy where my kits go to though, only the best working homes will do will sort some pics of the belly
  16. thank you, i couldn't get enough of them, i love having kits about the place, i spent hours in the garden with them and brought them out when they were old enough to get used to wondering about with the dogs and seeing me feet etc i had seven kits in the litter last year and who knows what is coming this litter
  17. research books, internet, mags etc on ferret care as you should know something as basic as "when they come into season" if your keeping ferrets already make sure the bedding and diet is correct as clearly your knowledge on their basic upkeep is low.. and certainly don't breed until you know more about the species
  18. hiya everyone!! its been a while since i wrote anything about me ferrets so thought i'd give an update i had my kits stolen last year so i need to replace numbers, i had my jill lined by a very good working hob but as i wasn't sure if she'd take due to this being her first litter i had three charming lil kits off him too, well typically the three kits have settled in lovely, not even nibbling fingers anymore and are eating VERY well as kits do! and of course the jill has taken and has a decent size belly - bigger then a tennis ball now , though isn't due until the 19th so i'
