  1. Sorry to hear of your loss, i'm in Sussex i'll keep an eye out.
  2. Just to update my earlier post, went on my fiorst ever beaters day, great fun but hard work, lots of hills to climb. Anyway grand total of pheasant, 9 woodies and some squirels, all in all brilliant.
  3. This weekend iv'e seen birds being swung against trees, two three times before dispatched, the use of stocks, priests etc. For me it's a simple case of picking said bird up, grasp by head, hold body with other hand and firm twist, not twist and pull but just break the neck in one fell swoop. Simple easy and importantly quick. Anything else using various implements means added time, you don't have to find your hands they're already available. Without giving it the big I am, if you aren't happy killing the quarry you have wonded then really should you be shooting at it in the first place
  4. I have been invited for my first ever organised shoot, keepers day. I've shot for over 30 yrs and it's a completly new and somewhat exciting experience.
  5. Thanks John, as for ducks you are probably correct, it was just my thoughts, no knoledge behind it so i'll defer to your advice.
  6. dixyhmr Could explain the reasoning behind your comment about head shot for rabitts? I'm presuming if the .223 will do foxs its more than capable for rabbits and alike so why a head shot? Thanks
  7. I had a chat with my local FAO the other day. He knows next year i'm going to apply for my FAC with a view to using it on pigeon, Rabbit, the odd duck and fox. With that his views were that the .178 HMR would be suitable for all the above types and the 22/250 would only be suitable for Fox and not the other smaller types. Before I take matters further in terms of testing vaious calibers i'd be grateful for any advice or experiences. with either of those mentioned. Thanks Bootneck
  8. Well im a footie fan, although supporting Southampton that is I guess open to debate, but I sadly didn't recognise Sir Bobby. I hope he recovers as he is one of the few footballer types that deserves respect.
  9. Unbelievable, spose someone cracked you across the nose last time you pissed yourself did they? Give it to a better home, anywhere would be better for that matter.
  10. Just purchased a new Weihrauch 99s, spring .22 Does anyone have any experience of putting a moderator on one of these, is it going to make a noticeable difference to reducing the sound? Thanks in advance. Bootneck

  12. Why on earth if they are reasonable, polite and respectful and of course you have nothing to hide would you not allow them access? Let's be realistic if you do mess them about you'll lose in the long run, they will just get a warrant possibly when your not home, on the basis of receiving regular reports against you and you having in the past denied them access. The best form of defence, unless you've something to hide is to allow them access on the first couple of occasions, assuming they come back a second time, and then subsequently you can cite further visits without evidence against yo
  13. I would agree, I had two baikals s/s and certainly never let me down. No need to pay hundreds to start with.
