Where abouts on the Trent are you fishing?, last year the biggest barbel we had was 14lb, pike 27lb, bream to 11lb, and one very large fish that took 100yds of line off the reel on its 1st run when i was pike fishing, managed to turn it just under the Tubular railway bridge and this large tail appeared out of the water then it shot off again snapping 18lb main line like cotton. We also had a large fish swirl at a pike of about 12lb as we were about to net it, my brother nearly brown trousered at that one.

One of the small ferrets that I bred this year
andyp replied to Rabbiting man's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
We have a little sandy Jill that is just a little bit bigger than that one and she is getting on for 20 weeks old now, she is an absolute demon, she goes like lightning, her brother is the total opposite, he is absolutely massive and will probably be one of the biggest hobs we have ever had, you need 2 hands to hold him, where as she just fits in the palm of your hand -
At this moment all our male and female kits are kept together, but next year Jan--Feb time i will split them up, if you want them to stay together you will need to consider the following options. Keep them together until they come in season, then seperate them, and get the Jills jabbed to bring them out of season. Have the Hob vasectomised, they can stay together, but the hob will also mate with the jills but not get her pregnant ( if the operation is done right), this will cause the jill to come out of season. Have the hob castrated, no more rancid polecat smell when he is in

Full Ferret show at the Manifold Valley Agricultural Show 13th August
andyp replied to NIP2's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
Is it an open show, do you just turn up? any further info would be appreciated, I have a couple of kits that i would like to take if possible. -
Top post and totally agree, out this afternoon with my young 13 month old pup and he ran and caught something double his wieght even though i had to staple him up afterwards he never let go. I wouldn't run owt else as they are suited to the land i run them on. Alot of people underestimate them. Top Dog of yours Mally, too all you other guys out there knocking Whippets, I have had the priveledge of actually seeing these dogs work, and boy do they, that dog in the middle for a youngster is amazing, he tangled with something the other day which was much bigger which caused some da

You won't win one if you do, all the judges at the shows mine go to mark the animals down if it doesn't smell like a proper ferret.

Who on here was selling the bright green and bright pink pures nets
andyp replied to BIGASH's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
Good idea if you can't see the green ones well due to undergrowth, or if the person is colour blind. -
is there any such thing as a true black eyed white ferret?
andyp replied to bigbailey's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
We have a Black yed white jill with jet black eyes, they look like little elderberries but catch them in bright light they appear red, apparently its something to do with the blood vessels in the retina reflecting light back through the eyes . Peoples eyes look red if you shine a bright light in them, (camera flash). -
Hope all goes well for you, our jill had her kits 3 weeks ago and i can.t wait for them to open their eyes, try not to disturb her too much for a couple of weeks, give her plenty of good food and water and they should all be ok.

3 of us had a morning on the torn on one of the coldest days last year, we managed to bank 10 small pike > 7lb in weight wobbling dead coarse fish, then went down to the river idle and i fished a static dead bait (trout)in the margin near my feet and trotted a dead roach under a float. The static dead bait won, there was just one small blip on the bite indicator and i thought a piece of weed had hit the line, picked the rod up and felt a small knock on the rod tip and struck straight away, ended up banking a 12 lb pike, very lean fish, no fight at all. Another place to try is the i

Never caught any pike on sea fish dead baits, all my pike were taken on roach, perch, small carp, skimmer bream, but the best dead bait i have ever used and i have caught on it every time i have used it is Rainbow trout. I get them from the tackle shop in Gainsborough, they cast well, have an oil in them that pike adore(look at all the fat pike caught in the resevoirs) They can be freelined, wobbled, suspended, popped up it makes no difference, the best day i had last year off the river Trent at Newark saw me catching and landing 4 fish in less than one hour, smallest one 18lb, largest on

What a !!!!!! I have seen these pups and the parents and they are top dogs, If you aren't interested in buying one of these dogs keep your dumb ass opinions to yourself. why do you always get one eh?
-
We use in them in all three of our hutches, it took a day or two for them to get used to them, but now they use them all the time, it's a lot easier to keep them clean , we use less than one 8ltr bag of cat litter a month, and we make sure we do not use the clumping (fullers earth)kind as it makes a right mess of the hutch and their feet if it gets wet.

Thieving scum, its not as if ferrets are expensive, probably wanted some that had allready been handled properley instead of doing the job themselves..Frightened of being nipped!!!! WASTERS What really gets me is the fact they probably won't be very looked after, will get mistreated and then dumped. We have had a fair few killed (10 +) on the roads around me recently. lost or dumped i do not know.

Watch out for the day trippers and mackerel bashers during the day, most of the bigger fish come in at night, last time i fished there we were using lugworm (massive things) nearly a foot long from weymouth angling centre, huge ragworms, fresh and frozen crab, caught several large wrasse, a decent sized bass and shed loads of dogfish. Never lost any tackle, watch out for the pebbles shifting, especially when you get near the waters edge when landing fish. Have a good one.

My two( they are also sisters) are doing this at the moment, when i checked them over today it seems that one of them has come into season again, some one suggested that the smaller one of the 2 is having a phantom pregnancy and treating the other one ( the 1 in season) like a kit.

Two Essex girls walk up to a perfume counter and pick up a sample bottle. Debs sprays some on her wrist and smells it. "Thats nice innit, dont you fink Trace?" "Yeah, wots it called?" "Viens a Moi" "VIENS A MOI? What does that mean?" At this stage, the assistant offered some help. "Viens a Moi, ladies, is French for 'come to me'....." Debs takes another sniff and offers her arm to Tracey again. "That doesn't smell like come to me Trace, does that smell like come to you?" An Essex girl walks into the local dry cleaners. She places a garment on the counter. "I'll

Nice looking fish that, they fight hard, and taste nice as well

I will second that about cleethorpes angling centre, ask for Bob or Acko, they will sort you out with good gear for very little money, ( a lot better than the garbage off flea bay) i have bought all my gear from them over the years and always had a deal from them. The Flatties are edible from this beach and if you fish when the crowds are gone, and night is falling they come in very close to the shore so long distance casting is not needed. You could also try humberstone creek (nr Cleethorpes) i have had some cracking flatties from there on lug and mackeral cocktail, also if you try sm

There used to be a charter skipper from that area that used to fish for the smooth hounds, bass and flatties a few miles off shore in summer, can i suggest you contact the tackle shop in skeggy, or better still there was a tackle shop at ingoldmells market, they may know, alternatively try one of the sea fishing forums, there is one with a section devoted to the east coast. If you get a copy of Sea angler magazine they list all the tackle shops and charter skippers in that area, another contact, try Bob, or Acko @ Cleethorpes angling centre.
