Had a pair of Hoggs moleskins for 10 years now-bought another pair a couple of weeks ago as well as a pair of breeks for game shooting in, they always wash and wear well, but I always seem to need a size bigger than stated on the label to make them fit properly.

Absolutely cracking pups there,The pup on the left is the spitting image of the dog we got just before xmas, he is now 12 weeks old, just checking through his pedigree and he has wernffrwd, timsgarry.cadboll, mallowdale, and quite few welsh names that i can't pronounce never mind spell. His parents are both working dogs, the Sire was brought from wales, and the Dam is very lean and small, she came from Bawtry S.Yorks, if ours turns out anything like my son in laws 2, i will be well pleased.

If any one comes across a ferret in the Bawtry, Ranskill, Torworh area (Notts) could you send me a pm. My mate had some break out last night, 2 of them were found this morning, but he is devastated that his favourite is no where to be seen. We have done the normal things like ask the neighbours and their kids to keep an eye out for him, his ferret box is near his hutch with bedding and dry food. So if any one finds him can you send me a pm. Much appreciated, thanks for looking. Andy

I like the sound of that recipe with the bacon, my misses likes pigeon as much as i do but she prefers hers done as a stew in a slow cooker, served with herby dumplings done in an oven, and nice fresh crusty bread for any gravy left on the plate.

I know what you mean, i have seen hundreds of the dark coloured variety dead on the roads around here over the past few years, even spotted a couple of feral ferrets running in and out of rabbit holes last year, but this is the first time i have ever seen a "non polecat " type. When we checked it there was no ticks or fleas on it, it seemed a good old age as its teeth were opaque with some tartar on them, but by god it smelled, but that could have been where it skunked when it was bitten.

God I would pay good money to see that !!!!!!! :boogy:

Was he fishing on the largest pit ? ( No 6) I was talking to a guy on one of my training courses last week and he and his mate caught 30+ carp in a weekend a couple of weeks ago, he said it was fishing its head off. I must admit i prefer pit 4, never caught a Bream out of there less than 10lb in weight, and when you catch 30 of them you know you've had your strings pulled.

Has any one lost a ferret in the Bawtry area?. My next door neighbours dog grabbed hold of one today when it shot out in front of them while she was walking down a bridle path, she was absolutely devastated to see the poor thing on the ground so she brought it round to me as she knows we keep them to see if there was anything that could be done, the poor thing was in shock so it was given some water, and wrapped it one of my T shirts,it seemed to liven up for a while, then it went downhill very quickly and went into a coma, and quickly passed away, unfortunately it was just too late. Back out with the remington 1100 the other day, 3 geese 5 shots, and last night on the ducks (and crows on the way back) 2 for one on the ducks, 3 for 3 on the crows, god i love this gun. In fact my misses has just shouted the goose is ready.

My mate Mally offered to take me out for my 1st ever Goose shoot today, i arrived at his house just before 5.30am, we had a quick cuppa and set off, we arrived at about 6.10am just as it started to get light, we could hear the geese calling in the distance and it made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. We saw the 1st skein appear out of the gloom but they were to far away for us, so he made the decision to move nearer the flight line, as we approached the corner of the field we noticed 4 nice Grey lags sat in the middle, they were to far away to shoot but they made excellent decoys

floater fishing help & advise
andyp replied to shootingmadgeorge's topic in Fresh & Salt Water Fishing
If i use dog biscuits i put them into a measuring jug, top them up with hot water and let them soak for 5 mins, pour the hot water away and place the dog biscuits in a plastic bag, add any falvouringd or colours at this stage if required, then squeeze as much air out as possible then put them in the fridge and leave them overnight, when you come to use them you will find they have a spongy- rubberry texture and you can hook them direct either as singles, or if using a larger hook use pairs, if done this way they don't seem to absorb water either. Other surface baits you can use are Crust- 10 replies

Not been since late on last year, still take a walk down there every now and again, just to see if anything has changed, there have been rumours of cats lurking down there for a long time, there are several stretches where the banks are deeply under cut and one day some one is going to get the surprise of there lives if they manage to land it. I have never seen a real live catfish but my old boy swears that the fish that grabbed hold of that 12lb Pikes tail was "BIG" I have caught Marlin that didn't pull as hard or as fast as that one which picked up my dead bait then shot off downstre

To be honest i only used to live 5 mins walk from that bridge and have fished both sides of the river, all the way to Holme Marsh and back and most of what we used to call the "Old Trent" I used to play in all the A1 pits as a youngster before they had water in them, and can remember having a right discussion with a lad i worked with about which way the gravel bars ran, he was adamant they went one way I told him they went the other, and a few years ago they drained pit 6 and some one took an aeral picture and put it on the net, you should have seen his face when he saw it. I have had

floater fishing help & advise
andyp replied to shootingmadgeorge's topic in Fresh & Salt Water Fishing
When i surface fish for Carp i try and use a controller when ever possible, the bubble floats are really good as you can put water in them for casting weight and they don't seem to spook the fish as much as the normal type of controller, I use about 4-6ft of line between the hook and bubble float, and normally when you get a bite the fish pulls against the bubble float and sets the hook almost like a bolt rig. If I freeline a bait to a carp when stalking them i wait for the line to move before setting the hook. What bait are you using for them?- 10 replies

How are you hooking the bait, hair rig, bait band, or direct into it, are you using a controller or just freelining?- 10 replies

The railway bridge is the east coast main line bridge downstream of the Nether lock at Newark, we were Pike fishing from what is known as the concrete pier, and casting in to the slack water pool on the far side where the waterboard barges are moored. Main problem is that you are about 25-30ft above the river and when you hook something one of you needs to climb down the bank at the side to land the fish, extremely dangerous if it has been raining, one slip and you are in and it would be very difficult to get back out. I have fished this section for most of my life and have had some cracking

Cracking dog that, I have seen her work several times and she is a credit to Mally, I know it was a hard decision mate to let her go, but you did the right thing, at least you will see her again. Something else i saw today was one of Mally's whippets responding to the same hand signals and whistle commands as his black labrador while they were out for a mooch this afternoon
