cracking dogs scottsman what height and weight is ur alaunt?
-
ive seen a few ridgeback x's in rescue centers so they cant be that good. i suppose that theyd have a good nose but the price of the ridgebacks plus the avalibilty of a good working type here in the uk would be hard to find. does anybody run gsd x's any more? sure a ridgeback would offer no more than a good gsd?

Id love to see photos of the mastiff cross. will you put some up. Why do you want the strong head on your bull cross??? a staffy cross would be lucky to reach 20 inch. you should get a good head alright though if thats what you want. i was just wondering how i could tell the difference between a staffie x and the other bull x. id didnt realise that they would be that short. are these bull whippets any good? i like well bonned dogs a i get a bit paranoid about broken toes and snapped legs. heres me mastiff x anyway these were taken when he was 9 mnths old hes now 14 mnths old and ive on

id like to see one of those. bet they would be chunky powerful dogs but would they be to heavy for the chase? also would they end up as one trick ponies so if they didnt make the grade on charlies theyd be total useless

would a staffy 1st cross turn out with a good head size still? what height do you think that they would reach? ive got a 1st x bullmastiff x grey but hes a big dog only 14 mnths ive not tried him on anything else apart from bunnies yet duno if hes gunna be any good and i was considering a more traditional bull x but i dnt no if the other type of bull would be a bit hard to get hold of?

not to sound like a twat or anything but will a staffy x grey make a good bull x or does it have to be the other kind of bull?

my pals husky raped the local farmers lurcher and she had a litter of huskey crosses, he recons that the turned out to be quite useful dogs.

irishwolfhounds are a re- created breed they died out when wolves were made extinct in the uk. the original wolfhound would have been more like a deerhound.

ive got a 14 month old bullmastiff x greyhound 1st cross. big lad weights 35 kg and 29 inches to the shoulder and hes still growing. hes a good loyal dog very protective, very stubourn and fairly intelligent aswel. hes got a hell of alot of prey drive but can also be dog aggressive. im sure that he has no sense of pain either. good man stopper and guard dog but i wouldnt realy reconmend them as a lurchermans dog id stick to the more traditional breeds if your going to seriously work him. i only do it as exercise and for the enjoyment of the dog but in a more experienced hands he may become qui -
dobermanns have greyhound in there gentics anyway, they are very intelligent and willing to please there owner, if people are running gsd x's succesfully then why not a dobie x? if little staffies x greys can make half decent dogs a dobie should do. although ive been told it quite hard to get a decent dobie now adays with original .traits

ive got a 1st cross bullmastiff x grey that was a bit tubby till he was 8 months old then grew and went all lankey and now at 13 months is starting to muscle up again. do you tend to find this with the bull x's? your boys got good bone and looks like a cracker. looks like a 1st cross aswel to heavily boned to be 3/4 id say. good luck with him anyway

in australia and the us when the breed boar dogs the use line breeding to make sure that they get the type of dog that they want for the job and cull the ones that dont make the grade the bull arabs in australia are 30 years old lines of proven workers. this way you know exactly what your getting. makes more sense to do it like that than to keep experimenting with different 1st crosses all the time.

i like the sound of those Rajapalayam dogs sounds like they would put food on your plate and protect you what more could you want. "The Rajapalayam is an ancient Indian Molosser, believed by some to be one of the progenitors of the legendary Alaunt and a remote ancestor of a variety of breeds, such as the Dalmatian, the Great Dane and the Alano, among others. Traditionally employed to hunt wild boars, hares and other game found in India, the Rajapalayam Hound was also used as a war dog, sent to attack the British cavalry during the Carnatian conflicts. Much larger and more ferocious in the -

heres a bit of poacher history i found.... "Poaching was a crime punishable by death, or sent abroad to Colonial Australia for seven years or brutal whippings. Why did they do the crime? To some this was a means of life and the only way to support a family to others fortune. Poachers used dogs called Lurchers, which consisted of a cross between a Greyhound and Shepherd to assist them with retrieving chasing and hunting down game from Gamekeepers properties. Lurchers were also trained to attack on command that were usually apprehending Gamekeepers" the shepard could this be an gsd type do -

The dog growls at kids , not one I'd want top take responsibility for As for GSD lurchers, they interest me and there have been a few good articles in EDRD over the last few years, Phil Lloyd and Dave Sleight wrote ecxcellent articles explaining their versitility. Personally If I had the room, and more importantly my wife would allow me I would like a dog of this breeding, I have a couple of GSD's, a nine year old dog 70lb, haemophilia clear and with a hip score of 2:2, this dog has great drive and has qualified in working trials. I also own his son, a 65lb four year old dog and I would -

theres a big black gsd x lurcher for rescue on this site if anybody is interested http://www.lurcherlink.org/llink/forum/vie...asc&start=0 -
when i got my lad he was 9 months old and from a rescue so we had to get him neutered which at the time i thought was good. but i was talking to an old guy i know who does a bit of ferreting and he told me that it will effect how the dog grows because of the lack of hormones and tesosterone. he said that it will effect the development of muscles and skeleton. and could also have an effect on the dogs mental state and that he wont mature mentaly aswel as he would if he was intire. does anybody know if this is true? i personally wouldnt have had him done but the rescue already had it arranged at

its called vet wrap i think

a good lurcher is priceless, and thankfully because of this lurchers have remained healthy and fit for their purpose dogs unlike many other breeds of working dogs that have been used as cash cows and suffer badly from being inbred and just generally shit. look at all the fat labradors or f*****g mental collies you see out and about or german shepards that cant walk properly or are over aggressive due to being over bred for the moronic masses who want working dogs for pets and have no intention of ever doing anthing with their dogs exceptletting it sit on the sofa. a real lurcherman breeds goo

cheers pal. what do you think of the victorian bulldogs and the leavit bulldogs? i think that these old type dogs are definatly the way forward with the bully breeds
-
is it easy to get hold of the alaunts? i love the bully dogs especialy the old types like the alaunts and the old type bull terriers im interested in the running mastiffs aswel like the cane corso's etc. do you find that your alaunt is quite protective a good guard dog aswel as a usefull worker thats was the intended purpose of the type. ive got a bullmastiff x greyhound and he fits the bill. cheers
-
chanuk. ive looked into these alaunts alot and there awesome dogs and just wanted to find out your opinion. do you think that the cross could be improved if the american bulldog was used instead of the bullmastiff? surley it would still take the big head and the guarding instinct like that of the bullmastiff has but would have added working ability because the am bullbog is a proven catch dog in the states and in australia. american bulldogs also suffer from less hereditary conditions than the bullmastiff. the only draw back i could see is that of the limited gene pool in the american bulldogs
