I had one on a 04 plate. It was an automatic and elecric switching into 4wd.Very good for towing, tons of power smaller back space than most others shit on fuel but they all are. Never went wrong on me and was as good as any other pickup off road with some half decent tyres on it. Parts are dear though if your after an oldish pickup go for a toyota it will never go wrong. whatever you do dont buy a mitsubishi they are gutless piles of shite compared to all the rest

a word of warning Don't buy bulbs off internet they always come knackered from posting any farm stores will sell them or agricultural suppliers last lot i got 7 out of 10 were fooked in post

don't know about distance but if its only insured for farm use be carefull what you carry, my mate got done because he was going fishing and that cant be classed as farming.

i'm a massive fan of the landcruiser and would agree that generaly jap cars are more reliable but you cant compare a landcruiser to a defender 90 off road, there just too bloody big with too longer wheelbase, brilliant vehicles, but off road nothing can touch a 90 apart from a fourtrak maybe
