I was going to wait a little longer to get back out with the ferrets. The last time out there was still small babies. This little nut got me to bring him out for a couple of hours with his ferret. We got 2 young and missed the adult. The first rabbit hit the net, as it closed the adult rabbit came right behind. I had to dig down for the second rabbit we caught.It was very hot aswell so we didnt stay out too long. Last but not least, the little lad with his first ferret. He has him 3 years now.

I was out ferreting with patterdale085 and his brother in law. We had 12 kids with us. My misses came along aswell. Most of the kids it was there first time ferreting. You wouldnt believe it but we where out most of the day and in the rain at times aswell and not a complaint from the kids. We got 1 bolter and the ferrets where messing as it seemed a few times. One of the times I dug down quick enough for the problem to be revieled. Yes baby rabbits getting killed and dragged about. The kids had a great day out. We will do it again. Thanks Macker, yeah Im lucky enough to have the pups I have. That one off Philip is a grand little fella. If Philip has his way I will probably have a couple of lurchers. The fields I go it seems to be the way,Beagles and lurchers. Its great when you see a pup grow up a little and you see the little improvements in them. The pups still have some way to go, but there doing well.

I was out with the beagle and terrier today. I had a great bit of crack with them. The beagle and terrier switched of rabbits and switched back on a few days ago. I was a little dissapointed but, where I go there are rabbits and some fox aswell. So with the other day in mind I just rambled around the fields to see what was in store. The beagle is bursting through the tightest of cover on her belly. The 2 pups put up 3 nice runs on rabbits for a lurcher. Yes the beagle was opening up on the rabbits. My 2 Glenns would be considered small by todays Glenns. The males are supposed to be 35lb max and 14 inches short. The bitches considerably less. I have seen huge 50 odd pound Glenns. I have seen many bitch Glenns bigger than my dog. The show ring is ruining them. To be honest about a Glenn well my Glenns are they will catch rats,too slow to catch rabbits,my dog can be a bit bogey around other dogs even after all the socialising I have done with him. The bitch is great around other dogs.They have some set of delf and a strong jaw.Another reason they are probably rare is there are better types

Unfortunately the old committee of the sporting Glenn club was not into using anything and wanted Glenns to travle through the shore with bends and corners, Just seeing who would travle and how fast the dog came out the other side.The committee has changed and at the next meeting I hope to put a few suggestions to them. They seem to be a bit more open to change.They mighten put a fox in a cage at the end of the shore, but maybe something scented like one at least. They deffo wont put a badger as its illegal. Im not too keen on a dog entering an empty

Nearly everyone there would tell you there Glenns work. There was a couple of genuine people there with different aged Glenns at different stages of there working lifes. My bitch is 3 and has seen little but the times she was out last year she came along grand and is heading in the right dirrections. I hope to get my 2 Glenns well stuck in this season. My dog is a little over 2 so I hope to get him going more now. Ya i notcied that about the glen folk they tend to call all of them workers. Is there much of the ballyfoyle lines around ? I had a bitch out of those lines she was well able

To be honest there where some. Most of the people there would be Glenn enthusiasts. It was a KC show.There was lure racing,shore work,weight pulling and obedience. Im trying to get them to do some bite work next year as an event aswell. There was colouring competitions for the kids and raffles.It was a good day out for the family.

I got this bitch a year ago. She wasnt in the best of nick. Its amazing what 12 months of slowly working with a dog does. I have worked very hard with her to get her to do a bit of work. She is doing really well now,thank God and lots of patience and time. The annual Glenn of Imaal sporting show was on in Wicklow sunday gone.There was 40 odd to 50 Glenns there. The bitch got first in the shore work and was the best bitch in show. She was beaten by a cracker of a dog to become reserve best in show. So shes showing and doing a bit of work aswell.So far best of both worlds.
