Yeah when we first started all those years ago, we called the ferrets buck and does.The buck and doe thing has kind of stuck with me. just qurious what do you call the male and female rabbits I call them dinner and if one escapes I wouldnt repeat it on here what I call them. More than likely thats where we got buck and doe from. Never came accross Hob and Jill untill years later.

I think my seasons over. I was out the shed yesterday and heard that noise coming from my 2 main workers hutch.I said it cant be.Yes the buck was stuck. I have 2 kits I kept back. I got them out to put the collars on as Im still doing a bit of pipe work,collar work and getting use to my lurcher pup with them.I was thinking your going hunting the weekend girls. You wouldnt believe it there all swollen aswell. Im a bit baffled as my ferrets always come into season around April.I always seemed to be nearly last to get kits.Has anyone elses ferrets come into season earlier than usual. Do people st

I think the beagles are a great bit of crack. I got a pup of Tassa of here.She was my first ever beagle. I was enjoying her so I got another pup a few months ago. Then the lurchers came. I dont mind what mine hunt.They push out rabbits,pheasants and fox. The new pup works a bit different to the older beagle.She is about15 or 16 months which is still a pup in my eyes,between the 2 of them Im having great fun.I cant wait for next year when they are not pups anymore. Ive got a couple of rabbits and a pheasant so far.Ive had some really good hunts on fox with them aswell.If anything you will get f

Fair play to you lads. Great experience for the young lad. Id of loven to even have a one of day like that myself when I was his age.Its defonitely a day to remember. In saying that I will never forget my first day all those years ago. We had nobody to show us the ropes. There was a little gang of us. We where only kids. We put a home made harness on the ferret and tied her to a ball of twine.We let her down the burrow and each of us kneeled down at a hole waiting for a rabbit to bolt into our hands. We had no purse nets and yes one lad was lucky enough to catch a rabbit that jumped into his h

The rabbit numbers have improved a bit this year. Last year it was brutal. Two years ago there was much better numbers.We where getting alot more rabbits.

Out today for a few hours with the eldest son. We had a good day. We got 7 rabbits and missed a couple.The ditches where very dirty and we missed the odd bolt hole covered with shit. The batteries werent charged before we left so just an end of day shot.

You never know the camo suits might be the fashion for some of them next season. I will try and get them out a couple more times before the seasons over. The couple of newbies certainly had there eyes open to something different.

I was supposed to bring my 6 year old ferreting yesterday. He wasnt into going when he seen how heavy it was raining,so of bushing with the eldest son.The plan was to bring him today. For some strange reason he didnt want to go today,on to the next victim my 11 year old daughter.No she said.Next was my 14 year old daughter,you guessed it no Da. Hows things, hope your doing well with the ferrets. I could have kept going and done a few more burrows and got more. This time last year it was very bad. I cut down on the number of ferrets I had and was even thinking of packing it in at times. I suppose you have to take the good with the bad. Plenty of rabbit stew this winter.ATB Ray

3 of them flew out into the nets. I was doing a bit in the snow a few weeks ago and got plenty of bolters.

I was out today for a couple of hours.It was too cold for others to come. Done a few dirty ditches.I spent more time clearing my way into the burrows so I could net up.Then I had to go from one side to the other watching my nets. I had only one dig of about 8 inches to a live rabbit. I had some crack. On the last burrow I done .It was a bit of work.I had to get up a hill over barbe wire check the nets on that side and then back over the wire down the bank to check those nets. It was gas.
