  1. check out the lapp puukko range. http://www.greenmanbushcraft.co.uk/cutting...land-puukko.htm really good blades, easy to sharpen and will last forever, some guy even hammered one into a tree and jumped up and down on it and it was fine. there well within your budget. i would highly reccomend one and then get a good japaneese waterstone with the rest of your money to keep it razor sharp
  2. very nice buck and some lovely countryside, well done.
  3. yea the 700 would be a good choice, you can always add an aftermarket stock like a mc millan or hs, which would make it a good shooter.
  4. And you know this how? well they have a bigger kill zone tahn pheasies so you would sort of expect them to be easier to hit than pheasies. assumption is the brother of all f**k ups.
  5. hi guys, i have made some good progress with him in the past few days. i can now stand beside him when he is eating and he wont growl, he is still quite up tight when eating but he is deffinately improving. his recall is also improving which i can only think is because of the progress with his food dominance, he is however still very distracted but i can see this improving over time. thanks for all your help i'll prob be back with more problems soon :clapper
  6. thanks guys he is responding a bit with treats but the growling is still happening, if i stand beside him he starts, should i then take the food away? and if so do i then just give it back?
  7. thanks very much i will just go back to basics then.
  8. hi there i am training a springer pup and i cant say its going well. he completely ignores me when i have him out, he retrieves quite well and will sit and stay if i can get him to concentrate but as soon as he gets a few yards away he just puts the head down and i cant get him to recall. if he has the chance he just juns for miles hunting everywhere. i have him on the longlead and am worried about letting him off but he dosent seem to mind and will still ignore me. he also growls when i go near him with his food and i think it must be a dominance thing. what can i do, please help.
  9. yea other wise he will want to no how to phone a ambulance na i dont think you should tell him that now

  11. im in the north of ireland, you need a firearms liscence for any air rifle, even sub 12ft/lbs. i have only shot my dads springer but am lookin to get a pcp. to start my firearms liscence, hopefully the first on a long list
  12. http://www.normanharpur.com/component/page...mart/Itemid,26/ anyone ever seen one of these, are they any good? good for my first pcp? seems quit expensive for what is a break barrel pcp. ps any ideas of how mant shots per charge?
  13. ll i really did was reshape the rather crude pistol grip and add a few wee flutes for your palm and then i added a rosewood endcap and a few white spacers between the endcap and the recoil pad. i then stained and varnished the stock, its got about three thin coats on it now and i will prob put another on it. so what do you think?
  14. just a few pics of my bsa supersport stock after i got at it a bit.
  15. the magazine end cap hole fits that machine screw one good and there is a recessed hole in the magazine tube which can accomodate the nut of the screw. all you have to do is cut the thread down a bit with a hacksaw.
  16. hi there i just fitted these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SHOOTERS-RIDGE-SLING...oQQcmdZViewItem to my dads wanlnut stocked 810. the machine screw one needs to be cut down a bit but they work good. if attaching the rear stud to a synthetic stock you would probably have to drill then tap the hole and then use arildite or somethin to keep it nice and tight. hope this helps
  17. yea i know i was looking into doing it for next season.

  19. hi all, my dad has aggred to let me dig a flight pond on his land. there are 11 achres which slope down to two quite big lakes which hold some diving ducks, ive been wanting to attract some mallard or teal and was just wondering how to make a flight pond. i was thinking of digging it out (by hand ) close to one of the big lakes and then using the lake to flood it. what sort of size/depth will it need to be and are there any shapes/ specific vegitation which should be used? the pond will most likely be situated in a field which slopes down to the lake and therefore the pond will have to be
  20. i use my dads webley 810 with walnut stock and i really like it, if its going to be used for wildfowling then i would go for the 3 1/2 inch chambred one
