I agree with this an other things written above. I have more experience with various bull terriers than other terrier breeds but have seen aggression confused with gameness- more often than not those dogs are not truely game but defensive I do admire some of the bull terriers but often once switched on you get a senseless destruction- OK if your dog is facing certain quarry but problematic mostly and not very useful for me and so in future i shall not add any further terriers to my kennels that include bull blood if they are required to work

Best of luck getting it back- we recently got one back after 3 weeks on the run using a live trap so certainly worth a go!

That is fantastic news!

I have a bullbreed in a kennel that wees in her bed all the time- i have just resigned myself to the fact that she does this and keep washing her blankets

Definately too much bone. He also needs some offal(in small amounts) The only thing i can see you feed without bone is tripe. I would feed extra flesh in the form of lamb/beef mince. With the adults i feed 2 meaty bone days followed by a whole rabbit /venison or tripe only. Each dog differs but if you adjust the meat to bone ratio you should see a difference very quickly

I have to admit when i first saw the ferrets draggingeach other about i did raise an eyebrow- however it is just something they do. To ferrets it makes sense

Ferreters are no better than Badger Baiters
Bevwallis replied to Pembshunter's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
Thankfully i havnt yet found myself in the position where i need to defend my own actions. The bottom line is that my dogs and ferrets need to eat...they happen to eat rabbits . Ignorance is not always bliss and no excuse for spouting on about something which is obviously not understood There are times in life when people simply do not want to listen to the voice of reason and so when this happens the only thing to do is walk away -
Very sorry to hear of this R.I.P Bert

I had a dog get really sick with poisoning year before last- i had to take him the vet even though i wouldnt normally as i had concerns over his appearance. As it happens the dog died after 5 days with them but they were totally cool so i would find another vet as a good one will have his priorites straight As far as the ear goes there are tiny bones there- but i havnt seen anything like you have described You know your dog better than anyone- i guess if you feel it gets worse or doesnt change you need to see someone. I would guess she has some swelling going on causing pain

I feed venison raw without problem. I also feed some skin and bones with the meat.I wouldnt feed it every day though- with raw feeding variety is essential

Thankyou- it was in Essex I am tempted to go out tomorrow as we didnt get to try some warrens....

Thankyou everyone.I shall use the spray in future

Thanks for that The last thing i wanted to do was harm her and felt guilty using something i didnt know 100% would be safe I shall use it again if needed as i havnt seen anything to suggest otherwise

After recently getting back a ferret after 3 weeks on the run she had the inevitable tick infestation . As there were so many tiny ones i decided to use a little bit of Frontline spot-on. I know it was a risk but i needed them all off asap as she was underweight etc-i only used a really small amount and over the past few days they have all dropped off. The product only said not for use on rabbits and as i figured the ferrets are more cat or dog like than rabbit like she would be ok. She is anyway- so what i want to ask is if anyone else has used this for flea/tick control? It would be

Pup ~ Food Agression
Bevwallis replied to Little Butch's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
In your shoes i would be asking myself two things- firstly why is my dog doing this? Secondly what do i do about it? My dogs will all show each other aggression over food- if they didnt they would have it taken away by another dog- however none show me aggression.Food guarding is an entirely natural - but in order to live safely with us we obviously cannot allow such behaviour. Your pup acting the way you describe reflects your relationship with him- however it also tells me something about his nature. I know you feel he is the "perfect puppy" the rest of the time but i would sug -
Unless you clean it really well it is highly likely to get infected. I use diluted peroxide- it will sting but it needs really thorough cleaning.Do it proper(scrub an all) and you should be ok

The black one is a GSD pup. Hopefully when grown she shall make sure no one nicks my kennel dogs!

new lakeland pup, it is ok to keep it outside?
Bevwallis replied to essexjed's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
"pampering" may not be quite what you had in mind- however a good dog is a good dog - i dont believe good 'uns can be made nor unmade with cuddles etc Best of luck whatever you decide -

Bevwallis replied to essexjed's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
Personally i wouldnt leave a 7 week old pup alone all day full stop. The puppy has social needs If you have someone who will care for it i would go that way.The pup will need feeding during the day and shouldnt be left so long unsupervised imo -
I have an Irish stafford bitch, just a year and whilst i shall not pretend she is the best thing that hit a whelping box she bushes quite well, has a good nose and marks well. She now marks live warrens and will dig - bolting rabbits etc but is yet to see anything bigger She is only a young dog- not one i intended for hunting of any description she just seems a natural. Her size shall limit how useful she can be - although i hope in the future (next winter) to find out just what she is or isnt made of She is taking fur and feather fairly regular of her own accord for fun so lets see.

I have to go keep looking at her- i still cant believe we have her She came back yesterday afternoon so we got the trap out,.set it and within an hour she was inside eating a chicken wing in the snow. We have had signs up all over the village but the last sighting had been over a week ago before some really poor weather when she had try to run into a local Tesco express.(she had the female staff running all over the place) Where she had been in the time until now i cannot imagine. Now she has fed well and been rested i shall have a really good look over her today but she appea
