  1. We are in Essex,it simply isnt needed anymore. Straight line with spare reel and spare lines, one 100 m on it and another 100m and 500m spares Also one almost finished continuous lure machine ,it just needs a solonoid fitting which is with it and a power and earth strap fitted. Will run on 12v battery. The starter motor has stuck solid and needs unscrewing and oiling, this is because it has been left in a shed over the winter. This is a 20 minutes job,i can show anyone how to do it but will need doing from time to time,. Any questions email or call 07525009365 £150 for both
  2. I read the article on the Boyfriend killing his Girlfriends' Yorkie in anger and as he killed it outright there was no case. I was surprised but as you say the Law certainly doesnt always make sense to us mere mortals. As i understand things so long as unnecessary suffering isnt caused you could destroy any dog- i guess it comes down to an instant kill if shooting .
  3. One of last years' Jills free to good home. She has been worked - i am not going to say she shall change the world but she is a good little one who has bolted rabbits, never laid up and is very easy to handle, not biting etc. She is in perfect health but she really dislikes another of my jills and i need the ferrets to all live together due to a new court replacing hutches. I am in Essex and if someone can travel over they are welcome to take her Please pm for contact Many thanks
  4. Hi there All sold except The Bulldog by Edgar Farnlan Anyone interested please pm-collection prefered due to weight of book
  5. Some areas down here in Essex have been hit bad-others still are turning up mixy but not nearly so much It become obvious about 2 weeks ago
  6. The "victim" was given to me a few weeks ago and is almost the size of the smaller jills. I am unsure of what to do ....after a few attacks she is now becoming a bit paranoid around the others which won't help. What i might do is keep the aggressor seperate for a few days or perhaps rotate them as obviously i dont want ferrets housed alone for long periods. I had looked forward to this "wonderful" new housing for ages -this isnt how it is supposed to be!
  7. Hi All I think i have a problem but am by no means an expect on ferret behaviour and so would appreciate some advice. I recently merged 2 groups of ferrets making 1 vascectomised hob and 5 jills,4 being last years and one from earlier this year. Tbh i didnt expect any trouble but one of my jills appears to be attacking the youngest jill.I dont mean the usual"i'm dragging you off by your scruff " type of thing,i mean biting and screaming- i tried to put the younger jill back in this morning and straight away this older jill woke up and attacked her. I have now removed the older

  9. I have brought a few dogs into condition As a general rule i would allow a minimum of 6 weeks recovery - if a dog is really underweight i feed a little every couple of hours at the beginning. It takes longer to bring them back than it does to take them down -with good care and attention i am sure so long as he is a healthy dog he shall recover completely. I have just brought 2 dogs back into condition on a completely raw diet( lamb breast, lambs throats, green tripe,rabbit,chicken)- in 6 weeks they did a dramatic turnaround with some love and proper but steady excercise. At 7 mo
  10. Very suddenly Mixy has hit us down here in sunny Essex We have all looked forward to the crop coming down and just as it has the rabbits are dropping like flies. I have to admit the odd easy catch for a young lurcher has been useful but we were looking forward to some good numbers for the freezers. I am sorry if this has been covered by another topic but it is so disheartening to watch them huddled everywhere when a couple of weks ago the area was alive with healthy ones. Even out on the lamp now throughout the night there is so little about it is awful Any other areas been hi
  11. Quite a number on some permission we have down here. We havnt shot any but no doubt it shall be asked by landowners before long unless the numbers fall off
  12. I have fed a raw diet for a couple of years now so shall share what i do- hope it is of help to someone. This is JMHO but when it comes to raw feeding best thing to remember as far as price goes is that if you buy from anyone whos' business pet food is it shall be expensive. Butchers, slaughthouses and anything wild caught is the best bet. Cheap supermarket food is OK but i try to steer clear of chicken as it is usually so fatty - if you can get friendly with anyone local who has free running chickens and occasionally cuts down numbers they would be better birds for dogs. As a general r
  13. Everything mine are fed is dragged off to bed. I have always excepted it as something ferrets just do- wherever their food is any left uneaten needs removing quite quickly this time of year anyway-it might be easier to feed whole animals then you can pick up the bones etc rather than trying to pick out mince The other thing one jill does with a rabbit is"kill" it- she throws and shakes the thing all over the place before finally dragging it off
  14. Hiya We are just outside Colchester- this gun is of no use to us so will take £100 if someone wants to come and take it away
  15. Comes fitted with a Hull Cartridge silencer and Bushmaster 4 x 40 scope. It has some marks on the stock but is otherwise in good condition. We bought it a month ago for the kids to use but it is too heavy for them We paid £140 for it and would like to see that back. Will post at cost otherwise can be collected in Essex Contact 07525 009365 or 01206 255351

  17. The pics do not do these pups justice. I saw them today and they are in superb condition, well raised and bred for all of the right reasons. Anyone looking for a useful little lurcher could do far worse
  18. Over the past couple of years a few dogs around my village have been shot for being somewhere they shouldnt be- this is arable farming but we have alot of gamebirds out. One ,a GSD,was shot up the backside for running onto a field(where the owner had permission to walk dogs) by someone training a spaniel to retrieve rabbits. The dog subsequently died but nothing was ever done about it- seemed a tad OTT for my liking
  19. My lurchers are all "ferret friendly" I could never trust them alone however as i had a terrier years ago that was fantastic with my cat. They used to sleep together etc etc. One day i mistakenly left them unattended and came home to a very dead cat. I think carefully supervised and dogs properly introduced should see plain sailing
  20. You probably need to face the fact that they cannot share living space so need to be kept apart. It is a pain but sometimes it is just the way it is - first and foremost you need to consider their welfare
  21. Speaking from experience with bullbreeds, and it seems from what people say that Patts are in ways quite similar in temp to some bullbreeds. This considered i would strongly advise against allowing any such dog to"fight it out" At a guess i would say the risk of losing one or both dogs to serious injury is too high and if i am imagining your dog to be like some others i have handled would achieve nothing but sore dogs and huge vets bills to repair them. I know how much of a pain a dog aggressive dog is to live with but at least he is quite small- imo when you breed for particular
  22. Some years we have been plagued down here in Essex by it. TBH i dont do anything other than isolate ALL of my dogs if it happens. Unless i thought one was really suffering or had a secondry infection i wouldnt even visit the vet- they are best under "kennel lockdown" It can be miserable for the dog with lessoned appetite and gooey eyes etc but like us having a cold it does usually run its course- keeping the dogs warm and comfortable usually sees them good in no time. An adult healthy dog in my experience gets over this without any lasting problems quickly
  23. Yes it is fine- i usually feed feather on too- they pluck some, eat some all without any problems
  24. Obviously you need professional advice, however if i had to guess i should say Patella luxation - a slipping knee cap If it is the vet should be able to grade it for you and then advise what should(or shouldnt ) be done about it But good luck
  25. Got to agree this is normal- they are both on edge hoping they will "get lucky" Once the bitch is out of season i expect they shall return to normal
