    havin pile on probs in rearing sheds heat is ok ive blocked out all light but still crowding in one spot any ideas

    at the right time most will work well especially on the young that havnt been lamped before i use split hazel notched slightly with cassette tape in then laggy banded to keep in place cost nowt and have one in every jacket pocket just in case but if you can use your hand even better as your not likely to forget those lol

    only extras my dogs get are raw bones and lambs fat on top of basic scran of meat n biscuits if theve had hard nite bit glucose in water at end of nite and a warm feed so its easier to digest

    id work on forming bond with dog first keeping it on lead walk it through livestock whilst on lead to check he is stock broken if he shows an unhealthy interest chances are he isnt which will need putting right before working him do you know anything bout dog history at all

    good to see happy ending gives hope to those not so fortunate and still searching for missing dogs taken by low lifes with no conscience out to make a quick buck

    theres no garauntees in anything in life and dogs are no exception the truth of it is a bigger percentage of useful dogs come from worker to worker but still not garaunteed yes you can get the odd useful dogs from non workers but more by chance really and thats not a chance id be willing to take personally .the amount of super dogs about (in owners mind only)im suprised theres any quarry left to run

    the ears full of little blood vessels thats why even little nicks bleed so much have you tried silver nitrate pen get from most chemists i use that then super glue the nick or cut to stop it opening up again but depends how big cut is mate to be honest atb matty

    get the basics down first with pup recall sit stay ect its no good the dog been good worker if you cant control it without fuss form good bond with dog be patient and things will fall into place mate you dont teach a dog to work its just instinct all good things take time when the dog has matured both physically and mentally enough to work it will learn on its own how best to do things and develop its own style in the process and give you many years of service knowing your dog is as important as knowing the land you hunt little mannerisms that other people would miss but tell you the dog isnt

    good post, i think as most lurcher are made from (greyhounds) which have (sensetive temps) you have to handle all type xs of lurcher with care. Collies, bulls,saluki,deerhounds ..........) all can have (sensetive) temps. So i think if you are not the calm type person, which i aint myself.I find (all) lurchers xs hard at times to train. Thats why alot get fecked up, because of (bad)handle'n. bad handling no its always the dogs fault mate brought the subject up because young kid local to me got a minshaw lurcher pup bought for him picked he said because it was the biggest and boldest

    everyone talking about right dog for job but what about right dog for your personality if your bit on the loud side then a timid sensetive type dog is not going to suit you and probably wont get best out of dog and on the other side if your quiet and timid a confident strong willed dog is going to lead you a song and dance taking the lead more often than not as it doesnt see you as pack leader and will test your authority any chance it gets it can be bred out of best dogs in world but if your not suited to each other temperament wise your not going to get best out of it( thats just my opinion

    theres your answer , hes 9mths old, take your time, get up on your bunnis, as close as and he will pick up on the lamp, he,s only a pup, dont rush . also shorten lead to keep his head up dog will soon realise whats expected when working on lamp as it gains experience, at 9 mnth hes a baby still id be more inclined to let him watch and learn to follow beam than run but up to you mate best of luck

    good luck finding dog mate been on my arse myself few times with depression and it takes some shaking off but sounds like hes got good family to help him atb

    you said it yourself where you normally walk theres isnt much about so when the dog has come across all these new scents and lots of it all over the place its bound to get excited mate its nowt to worry about the dog will settle down as it gains experience on how best to catch if its only young dog let it burn off a little excess energy before going where you want it to hunt and just keep at it like all things in life practice makes perfect but the main thing is you and the dog are having fun

    before anybody says owt im not having a go just simply dont understand why the site allows guests on forum shouldnt it just be members that way nobody can be anonymous or is it legal requirement like i say just a question not a dig i apologise if its been asked before mods but curious
