Just a general enquiry really, Do you need to complete your DSC before you apply for a firearms licence to take deer. I only ask as I am considering taking up target shooting for training and then when I am good enough I will want to take deer. So do I NEED to take my DSC or is it just reccomended. I have asked my ferreting permission holders if I can use there land for target shooting and eventually deer (if I get to that stage) and they are fine with that, as long as I sort out the lawfull side of things. Okay sorry for my stupidity but I have wanted to know this for ages, how is beagling done because surely a rabbit will run straight back down the warren? So do beagles mark holes and just wait or what? Thanks for any information given. Joe

I agree dog men do act like they have the 1st priority over any animal, but whatever the method, dogs, guns, traps, snares etc, too much will eradicate the population of foxes. Now if it is for genuine fox control then fair enough take what you need too, but if it is for sport then don't go overboard and take everything in the area. JMHO Joe

Yes if it carries on, thats my oppinion. Like in any situation if you kill too many of 1 thing it will mess up the food chain and like you say will kill off the foxes. Joe

Get some secateurs, as machettes will make too much noise when chopping away. If you do get a chopping tool like that to cut back the brambles/undergrowth etc then cut them back at least a couple of days in advance or you may find your digging a lot. JoeD

Do you reckon it could of been gassed rabbits? I have no idea about the gassing of rabbits so I am just thinking of what it could potentially be. If not then I am out of ideas. Strange though, Joe
