  1. sure, there is cartainly enough to hunt, and we are pretty much welcome anywhere we go. bit of problem bringing your dogs though, there`s a six month quarrantine both in and out of the country mainly because of rabies. and yeah, sixpence is the currency of norway. we deal in hats and caps only
  2. havent found a proper use for them yet. friend of mine suggested we should make a sixpence out of the head skin.
  3. same reasons as for backfilling, i want new ones to move in as fast as possible. also, we keep the skin. i used to sit out late at night waiting for the badger to come out and stand up so i could shoot them. never wanted them to return due to the worry of the cattle and sheep on the farm, are you's over run with them in norway mate yes, i find sets that are being used wherever i look around here. i`ve located about sets since midsummer.
  4. i have a couple of books, but they are mostly about bagging the badger and releasing it somewhere else. perhaps you could recommend any?

  6. live in norway, badgerhunting is legal. i`m not asking about drawing the badger alive out of the set, but getting it out if shot in a difficult place, like the one described above. done it years ago with adults, i was there with them as a kid 1 dog got killed the other fu*ked up, pointless but this was while drawing a live badger, right? i`m talking about dragging out a dead one, as i don`t want them to rot in the den.

  8. ok, asked in another way:can a 15 pound terrier drag a 30 pound sack out of a den?
  9. had a bit of an excavation this sunday. my terrier located two badgers under a large boulder. the entire set was made out boulders and rocks and we were shfting them around for four hours before we eventually gave up.(it gets dark at 17.00 around here now) one of the badgers bolted, and fled in to another set 20 yards from the one we were working. the second badger stood his ground and we could eventually see him about 5 feet in. we only had shotguns with us so we didnt risk shooting. if we had brought a .22, we could have shot him. but, would the terrier be able to drag him out? do
  10. hehe, we use white gloves while hunting around here mate!
  11. thats my loke, out of norwegian/american/dutch lines, approx 13"/16 pounds.
  12. whats the problem? i had a question about terriers and so i asked it on a forum about terriers, i was`nt telling you anything merely seeking advice. well done mart thats the way it should be . the trouble we have over here is a shit government that just dicates and make rules to suit themselvs . they dont do it so no one can . and we all obey them : keep up the good work thanks

  14. hello swag, dont know exactly what you mean with that, care to explain?
  15. thank you, i`ll keep that in mind. hopefully he`ll get a chance at bolting a fox this autumn, would be really usefull if he`d do both. and i`ll keep digging, dont worry about that, found a new sette this evening not far from my home.
  16. thank you simo! nice to meet you too, dogpaddle.
  17. hello new to this forum and also new to the working of terriers. just dug down to my 17month old prt and dispatched a boar badger, an old timer with broken teeth weighing in at between 15 to 20kg. quite an easy dig i guess, eventually finding the badger at a couple of feet below us. now i`m wondering if this dog will be able to bolt foxes or is he more likely to stay with the quarry waiting for me to dig down to him? where i hunt, badgers have taken over all dens where it is possible to dig, while the foxes have moved further up in the mountains where digging is impossible.
  18. hello just registered, hoping to get some tips and pointers on hunting with terriers. just dug down to and despatched the first badger for my 17 month old parson russell. living in the middle of norway badgerhunting is legal, and very welcome `cause there is plenty of badgers but very few that hunt them. i also hunt hare with my norwegian hound, known as dunkerstoever here, who is also 17 months old(had a couple of hectic weeks last summer one might say).
