  1. My vet described the condition and the the possible treatments then went on to say. . . . . . . I call it a terriers "5th" gear! :clapper:
  2. When i was about 17 my aunty ran a hotel on on Exmoor, she had lots of gundogs at the time and i used to stay there in my school holidays. I was walking the dogs 1 day, all very well behaved spaniels. . . . . . .except 1, Sam a completely un trainable working cocker, nutcase of a dog. He ran off pretty early in the walk then reappeared with the back end of a decomposing lamb's carcass, he had the 2 back legs and tail sticking out his mouth! Just as i managed to get hold of him and get a lead on him and do battle to retrieve the lamb, a line of single file hikers came round the side of th
  3. Fox hounds don't tend to "eat" fox. Pre ban when they hunted fox they rag the carcass but if you've seen a pack of fox hounds feeding on flesh, you'll know what they look like when really eating!!!!
  4. I want Jacob to be my Grandad! Great read.
  5. Gutted for Patrick. . . . . . .the mans a legend!
  6. Meat Phobic???? What is that all about!
  7. No offence Donk, but you don't sound very tough!!
  8. The group is called ACES (athletic canine enthusiasts society). Very knowledgeable people with some of the best Staffords i've ever seen. Their website is www.aces2007.co.uk. Take a look and join the forum if your into athletic staffords these guys are great!
  9. Look up Orijen dog food, It is based on the principles of BARF but in a kibble. Basically no grain. I haven't fed it as mine are on raw, but i belong to a group who race and condition staffords, a few of them are feeding it and very very pleased with the results.
  10. A guy i want to school with is on it tonight apparently. . . . . . as far as i know he has no clue about hunting! Matthew is his name.
  11. I remember her, but it was Kit E Kat,she was an old Moggy. you mean her who liked floppy man breasts inan.. She wrestled midgets for a living and was unbeaten................................ I have a massive phobia of midgets. Scare the shit out of me.
  12. Whilst what you've written is true, wouldn't you rather that your dog actually enjoyed its food?? Of course thats why i feed mine raw, the point i was making is that if you allow a fussy dog to dictate what it eats, you can end up with a very limited selection of feeds, not all of which will be nutritionally sound. It's the same principle as allowing children to only eat processed foods, and cooking whatever they choose. Slippery slope.
  13. The moment someone posts material about illegal hunting they are wide open to prosecution. Anyone not clever enough to understand this should not be using a computer, it's really not rocket science is it.
  14. I would have done exactly the same, however risky, i know i would not have been able to stand by and watch my dog die. I was involved in getting a horse out of an icy pond years ago, bit different because obviously they are to big to drag out. It was heartbreaking, his mouth was frozen up where he was screaming. Happy ending though the fire brigade got him out. Certainly not a nice thing to watch.
  15. Surely anyone stupid enough to post photos of illegal hunting is open to arrest. Always surprises me why people do it.
  16. All mine are insured. I don't tell them they are running dogs, just simply "lurchers" or "cross breeds". Most dogs run free and could break a leg. . . . . fact they were full pelt behind a deer need not be mentioned!
  17. 1 of my dogs was a bugger to train to stay, i too couldn't get more than a couple of feet away before she moved. The method that worked for me is exactly the same as ess explained, however i did it to the side of her instead of in front. For some reason this seemed to work almost instantly, i don't think she thought i was going to go anywhere when i just stepped to the side. Might work. Good luck. Practice makes perfect!
  18. Todd, jip, axel, bullet, rico, stan, dudley, tip, rocky, dodge, all good terrier names!
  19. Easiest way to cure a fussy dog. . . . . put the food down, leave for 10 mins if they don't eat it pick it up and wait till the next meal, continue until they eat it. . . . they'll get hungry and i've never known a dog to starve itself! This normally works, obviously their are exceptions to every rule. . . . don't starve your dogs longer than 3 days!
