How did your stock look after refinishing BenBhoy? Did you use stain and tru-oil?

It really was a nightmare! Years ago I refinished a lot of stocks and getting the varnish off was a 10 min job with the stripper. Have they made it weaker?

I took the chekering off as I thaught it looked crap. What do you guys think? Have I gone a bit too dark?

So far 3 small coats of tru oil and a careful wire wool and a 4th coat it hasn't half taken in a lot of tru-oil! This is stage I'm at, at the moment......

Next job was staining - I wanted it looking dark so took 3 coats of birchwood casey walnut stain.....

I stripped the old varnish off - what a nightmare that was. New paint strippers are no way near as good as the old stuff. I used to put it on and within a minute it all bubbled off. (Its been years since i done a refinnish) This stuff I ended up leaving it wrapped up overnight in a rubble bag and it still diddnt touch it. I ended up having to spend hours scraping it off with a razor blade. After a good sanding I ended up at this stage.....

Hi! I have a battered pedretti hushpower folding single barrel 20 bore. Great gun but the condition was annoying me so im giving it a tidy up. I took pics before and I'm half way through so I thaught I'd share my mini project with you! Let me know what you think, any tips appriciated......

I use thermal spotter with a torch on the gun. I'm I doing it wrong lol.

Maybe look at the diana stormrider? (£200 at kirklees guns brand new wood and synthetic) I got one to mess with, alraros regulated it and fitted a HW moderator - Its a fantastic little lightweight gun I bet it would be perfect.

6 bat boxs on left 2 bird boxs on the right blue tits where roosting in the 3 double chamber boxs on the left so I put a couple of bird boxs up to hopefully keep them out the bat boxs.

That's great I love sitting out and watching them. I put some boxs up but none have used them yet that iv seen.

Yes all in a kit I'll put a link on. I just throw it in. I put 2 tie wraps on the make it land level but it's 50/50 it landing upside down I'll modify it with a weight and float soon........ I once had a funny encounter too, I was at a campsite sat by the river with my bat detector on. A couple and 2 children walked past and stopped. He said are you checking for radiation? I said no, it's a bat detector. His wife laughed and said there's no bats in this country so I pointed at them and said what are they then? She and her 2 girls screamed and ran off lol.

Bats are amazing well worth getting a detector, I filmed this using a magenta mk 5, you can get a 20 odd quid build yourself haynes detector off ebay too
