  1. Hey si that looks pretty good considering what mine was like! It was a discrace! On mine it still had the split pipe spring guide and the older style cocking shoe that presses against the piston sleeve and damages it. You will allready know but I found out from researching the new version cocking shoe (bout 7 quid from chambers) has supports top and bottom and uses cocking arm cut out on the the cyl an a rail supported both sides so no pressure on the piston sleeve or pushing the piston against the top of the cyl when cocking. On mine it was scraped on the piston and cyl due to this
  2. It was mate, he makes it all seem so simple to do. The man cave has little drawers and pots full of everything that you'd ever need to sort a rifle He'll probably kick my arse when he sees that sticker You made the sticker? Ha ha!
  3. That sounds great and nice sticker! I bet that was fun getting stuck into your 97 with Davy and having a nosey in someone else's man cave. Bloody awsome.
  4. Thank you. Iv looked into it too and was going to order your reccomended stroke but found same on the tbt website. Im going to finish polishing and wait for the delrin sheet to arrive and put it all together. The kit is great! The short stroke kit had a bit of play but fitted the snap ring then the short stroke back on and bingo. I'm going to put the piston in a drill chuck and gently take it back a tiny bit and it will be perfection. What an awsome bit of kit they make well happy!
  5. Cheers si! Same here do a bit of every thing but for me I don't do any of it well lol. Spare times again't me... too do 12 hours most days just trying to make my way in the world! Enjoying every minuite spare and getting out doing what i love and also my bit and trying to keep everyone happy. Its tough but when i get older fingers crossed it will get easier.
  6. Cheers si! Feel a bit guilty messing about with a classic like this (especially as I'm not really a proper airgunner) but had one of the these as a kid. As the story goes I was out with the shotgun as a kid in 1997 and when I came back to a friend who took me out with his shotgus and he had a hw85 in the corner of his quail shed. I saw the 85 and shouted wow! Always wanted one of these. He said you like that? Yes I said, take it with you he said. One of the most memorable moments and best things ever to happen in my childhood It then baught years of joy and top rabbiting memories, a pocket of
  7. I like dark stocks too, look classy!
  8. Forgot to mention I owned my fac airgun sub 12 and had it sorted and put it on ticket, but it's taste in pellets changed big time. It used to love air arms field but does t anymore. It now loves biz mags and air arms field plus.
  9. Ha ha nice peskywabbits I'm in the same boat with my landrover. Feel guilty upgrading stuff but it needs doing to make it more pleasurable for daily use. Some people have got in mine and laughed at the basic interior!. Externally you would never know anything different on this old HW85.
  10. Nice I'll never forget the feeling my ticket landed and went to pick up my fac airgun and it was years ago. You will love it no doubt!
  11. Vortex piston seal sorted, Thank you charlie caller he was a gent! Edit. Also fitted the snap washer. I'll spin the piston in the drill again and gently sand the delrin short stroke to the same profile as the piston and polish afterwards.
  12. The spring isn't shortned and polished yet I'm waiting for a new blowtorch to be delivered and a i need to do a little bit more polishing of parts. Also got some 0.3mm delrin sheet on the way and plan on making my own delrin piston sleeve. I'm not happy with how the piston seal sits on the short stroke so will look at that also and hopefully get a Vortek piston seal I want to make it the best I possibly can.
  13. Bit of an update, the parts have landed. Here's a pic of the tbt kit contents with short stroke fitted to piston and standard piston seal fitted.
  14. Hi no I don't know him but we have spoke through email. I'll aim to short stroke it get it right and then leave it. Thanks for your advice!
  15. .22 the short stroke I have is 11mm. Would you recommend fitting short stroke first and leaving it at that?
  16. Cheers threelander I'm thinking about just fitting the short stroke kit straight away. Using it like that for a while and having a spare spring full lentgh for a non short stroked set up too.
  17. I know what you mean! I'm really enjoying woring on my gun too. I'm going to have 2 spring set ups - a short stroked one and a standard one to experiment with. Also going to make a delrin piston sleve too. It takes less than 10 mins to strip the HW down so it's going to be fun experimenting! I'll be watching this thread with great intrest cheers!
  18. Yep will do! I probably won't get round to it for a week or 2 tho. Did you short stroke yours too then?
  19. My tbt pro kit has landed and they are really nicely made parts well chuffed.
