I just looked on ebay and there's bsa cadet stocks on there. Nice gesture doing it up for a youngster my mate had one as a kid lovely old classic. My 85 had a tiny split in it I opened it up a touch and filled it with wood glue and clamped it and now it's solid as a rock.

Hw99S Out The Box Vs Home Tune Review
tomburras replied to Richard Collett's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Looking good Richard satisfying isn't it! They are a pleasure to strip. When I polish pistons I put the latch rod in a drill chuck and spin them makes it miles easier (apologies if you allready knew that). Bet the wait for the kit to land is going to drive you mad lol. -
Never used a 35 in my life but from speaking to a guy on the range a couple of years ago he stripped a 35 and he said the pins drifted out with a punch but it came our one way easier than the other as one end was flattened more but never done it but thaught it's worth mentioning.

Cheers Tom Tell you what mind what a cracking little rifle to shoulder nice and light just hope i can get it back to working order its cocking but not locking into place atvbjimmy  I may be wrong I was a kid when I last saw one of them 20 odd years ago but the image is rooted in my brain, it did have yellow writing on top of the cyl. Lovely bit of nostalgia!

Hw99S Out The Box Vs Home Tune Review
tomburras replied to Richard Collett's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Sounds bloody good this richard. Wonky donky has kits ready to post now I spoke to him the other day and iv heared from many hw99 fans his kits the best for 99s. £45 posted and ready to drop in too. I'd fit a vortek piston seal and size it to your tube yourself with fine wet and dry so it moves super smooth. I wouldent shorten a .177 hw99 my brother did it and really struggled to get good power out of it without a lot of pre load and then that spoiled the shot cycle. Also i wouldent bother stripping the trigger I'd just polish the latch sear and the piston rod sear and set you -
Not my cup of tea but came across this and thaught I'd show you guys..... https://youtu.be/zN-_Ss42RLs Like the impact and coming soon apparently. ...
-
That was great that thank you.

I know what you mean rez iv tried lots of .177 springers and never liked them. I always found the heavier guns better in .177 like the tx and 97. Been driven mad by .177 webley tracker and 95,s etc.
-
Hey rez, seen this before too but just watched it again nice set up! I remember looking at theese sr models in the magazines years ago. Never seen one in real life tho. That open sight shooting is good. It reminds me of my old meteor with open sights shooting tin cans. Never gave telescopic sights a second thaught back then and was happy with them. Not shooting rabbits then..... oh the good old days.

Will do when it's done. Been mostly playing out with my hw85 I did other month it's turned out to be the best springer iv ever owned! It's soo satisfying. Looking forwards to hear how you get on.
-
Happy birthday and nice presant. I'm messing with a 99 too at the moment. They ard nice to work on -Looking forwards to hearing your progress.

That's crazy rez how can they let things like that go. If they invested in some polishing equipmment and take a bit of time and care the extra effort would make a massive difference. I can't understand why they don't. I Will be very interested to see pics too.

Iv been looking at getting a pro pointer and seen this cheap version..... Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222367531420 Has anyone used one of theese?

On other springers where I diddnt polish them out they marked the piston. I'm all for polishing them away but ill remove the crosshatching too. While talking to a guy at the range I mentioned polishing them out and he said never do that as you will remove the crosshatching wich is essential - which I don't think I agree with. Surely the smoother the better?
