Try and have a look through a few. Various sellers, importers offer night sight evenings.you tend to get what you pay for with nv but it's also about being familiar with it and knowing how to get the best out of it. You can spend megabucks, but get the same results with more modes gear. Don't dismiss the pulsar. Good bit of kit at a good price relatively speaking. I've had one for a few years. The ATN x site looks interesting but I'd want to see through it first. It's got a lot of features but to me, the most important features are field of view and resolution. They can keep their gps etc.

Decent Budget Over And Under
bumble replied to Guitarguyben117's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Lanbers are good at that price s/h. -
Bushy elite 6500. Had mine a few years now. Used mostly at night under a lamp, but good enough to see contrast when silage is cut for foxes on a clear night. Haven't had to adjust zero in as long as I can remember. Funnily enough, people saying about hawke scopes. I've got an old pro stalk. It's been on everything cf rf air rifles over the years. Oldest scope I own and still going strong.

.22 Rifle.... What's The Best To Buy
bumble replied to danny bull's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
22's are much of a muchness. You would have to look hard for something crap. Rifles I've had/used: Rem 597. With later mags, great gun. Still miss mine. Cz511 very underated can be had for peanuts. Cz452. Had one with a 16" barrel, great little rifle for shooting out a truck window . Accuracy was top notch. Good value. Sako Finn fire. If you can find a good second hand example, snap it up. If I was on the skids and needed money this would be the last rifle to go, and I have a few. -
I've got a howa1500 a mate has a tikka. Both good rifles but , I'm fussy with triggers. I fitted a timney to mine and it's awesome. The cheapy hogue flexes at the forend. Not great on a bipod. Fitted a boyds laminate. Neither were megabucks as I imported them from the US. My mates tikka was good straight out the box but more expensive. Both shoot very well. Can't comment on the other makes, but as much as I love my howa, I'd go for the tikka.

all moderators cut down recoil more or less.I`ve got a wildcat on my .223 and its very good.Strippable, and appears to cut down noise satisfactorily. The only comparison i can make is with a T8 on a mates 22.250 so its not very subjective, but the T8 seems to do a really good job of taming the noise. It does ring noticably though. Not strippable. Hope this helps, but noise perception is difficult and can vary through a lot of things like surroundings, adjacent hills, and how far the bullet will travel to impact.

Barrel touching the stock along its length. That will throw bullets all over.
-
Mod loose? it happens. Otherwise, is your scope secure. Just looked at your original post: mod;check;scope, check. Is the barrel secure to the receiver.
-
Cut 1cm off the folllower at the rear to squeeze an extra round in. You can cut more off and do an extra two but feed problems can happen. Adapted both of mine. Dont think cutting the spring will do anything but make it weaker.

If you`ve cleaned it, then it may take a few shots to get it on song again. Rf`s dont take readily to a lot of cleaning. My rem 597, i clean the receiver so it cycles but rarely clean the bore. Doesnt need it.

If your conditions mention the phrase`authorised by the chief officer of police` then its a closed certificate.

Franchi 612 sporting s/a. For clays and occasional pigeons.12b Ugartechea sbs double trigger ejector. Pigeon gun.12b Norica b/a .410. General mooching around.

I put mine in a drawstring bag that sunglasses often come in.

I have a wildcat on mine. Good well made mod and strippable. In use it takes a lot of the loud boom away, in fact i shot a close range fox under the lamp and couldnt believe how quiet it was. The bullet didnt travel far enough to get a good head of steam on it, and make a long supersonic crack. Couldnt say how much they retail at. It came as part of a package.

Yep, good calls. Vary the pitch with bite pressure. Hands free, i had a fox with it first time out. Its plastic so doesnt taste bad like some of the metal ones.

I`ll reply from my experience of owning .223 and HMR: HMR is and excellent cartridge. On a still day acurate shots to 200yds are possible, and even if its windy its fine to 100+yds, its like anything else, you get to know your equipment. I use a windmeter and drop/deflection card. Ammo can be expensive, but bought in bulk its cheaper. I hold 600 buy 500, and there are better deals on 500, its just having the readies at the time. 20gn XTP`s are cheaper, normally working out to 9.50 a box. They are also good for fox as they hold their mass on impact, driving deeper like a mini deer cart
-
Sounds a reasonable price Dan. My cz .22 and HMR were £285 and £300 respectively. Theres a lot of variance in prices of cz`s. Some places charging as much as £400 and as little as £230, but if its a local shop and you expect to use it regularly then its better than travelling miles to get a cheaper deal with no after sales.

When i asked for mine they had lost one of my permission letters awaiting land aproval, and i had also lost the chance of another piece of land because of the hassle of getting aproval. I used the above to explain the fact that open condition might save a lot of time in the future, together with the fact that i had a number of permissions, gained a lot of experience, etc. They asked for a letter from my shooting mate saying what a safe responsible shot i was and this was accepted. At the same time i did the same for my mate, which worked out well for us, but i didnt quite get the po

Shortage of rabbits........?
bumble replied to Rolfe's topic in Gamekeeping, Conservation & Shoot Management
Myxomatosis is a virus. Viruses mutate so nothing can build an imunity to them. Bit like colds really. You can have a series of them, but its just the same one which has mutated so the imunity that built up with the previous one is no longer effective. -
I handload for my .223 Howa. The nearest i would say is Hornady as i use their vmax heads. Rimfire i put federal. Prefer these in my .17 cz, but i use cci in my rem 597 as they cycle reliably and rws or aguila in my finnfire. Shotgun, i get whats cheapest. All the above are subject to availability, but are prefered.
-
Dont remember having a pop at you. Landowners where i shoot dont want them shot. Simple. And my names not Jesus. Cheers.
-
I use a length of old shotgun cleaning rod to finish off pigeons. I pull the heads off if i try to ring them. I dont shoot hares. Nobody seems to want them shot
-
No worries bud. When i used a box of 20 just to get on the paper i started thinking about the cost. I reload now, and reap the benefits, although its not for everyone.
-
I find cci cycle my rem 597 semi pretty well, and are acurate. I use rws and aguila in my sako. They were a good choice in my cz when i had it too.
-
I have the same rifle, and had good results with sako 55gn softpoints.
