  1. I feel for you. Not easy loosing a dog. Take care.
  2. I had a dog do that about ten twelve years ago. Took him to the vets and they bandaged it up and it drove him mad. Took them off bathed it in salt water and he did the rest. Was VERY painful for him though so only exercised him with road work so as to avoid him catching it on anything. Best of luck.
  3. Please stop the bitchin. Before Ian B gets pissed off again. It's like a bloody school play ground at times. It was a good thread.
  4. I've got a D22 on a 51 plate. My local dealer said that it was the last of the proper Nissans before Renault took over. The next model the clutch plate was too small and the new one the engine kicks out too much power. My boss bought one just over a year ago new and hates the thing. Too many niggle probs. Although my old one has been bullet proof I personally would buy a Toyota next. Had one before and couldn't knock it.
  5. Well thats what I call a run. Looks like great fun.
  6. What you gonna call it. DA RITZ?
  7. Best of luck with her. Mine is eight months and will be out for a couple of runs tonight. I'm only giving him three or four runs and then back home. Only taking him out every three weeks though. What about you?
  8. A friend of mine breeds working Labs and got Sire Dam and Pup DNA tested when a customer questioned a dogs pedigree. So I know that it must be possible. I'm stalking with him Saturday and Sunday this weekend. Do you want me to ask him how much it cost and who did it for him?
  9. My pups eight months nearly and hasn't grown in height for the last month. He's just under 27tts. 3/4 grey, 1/8 collie, 1/16 deer and 1/16 whippet. Different style of dog though.
  10. It's great fun. Try it your self. Seriously I don't know but my pup did it this afternoon. Bloody stinks I know that. So at least your not alone.
  11. Hi folks. My pups eight months now and has caught his first bunny. I don't want to run him on too much game yet as I don't want him accelerating too hard and turning too hard. I'll take him out on the lamp every two weeks or so for maybe three-four runs and then home so as not to overdo things. He seams to not have grown upwards for about a month, he's just under 27tts, and has started to fill out. Have read that some of you guys let the dogs run behind a bike to get then fit. I took mine out for about 1.5 miles this afternoon and he loved it. Is this too much for a young dog? He j
  12. Nothing out of the ordinary really. I never picked out toys with a squeek in so he wouldn't chomp on them. Although I did buy one or two but took the squeek out. I was told this when I got him by my brother as he has had a few lurchers himself and learnt by his mistakes. Although I don't think I would do it my self I was told that if you get a really hard mouthed pup then to wrap a dummy in barbed wire and then a fresh rabbit skin will stop them. They will soon stop chomping on raddit. Well you would I suppose but there must be more humain ways I'm sure. ANY SURGESTIONS FOLKS.
  13. Thank you. He's starting to muscle up well. Will post more pictures over the next couple of months. This was him two weeks ago. ish.
  14. Yes great advice. I was thinking of this whilst walking the dog after I had posted last. The collar must only be used whilst the dog is doing some thing that cannot be associated to you. Thus it not being some thing YOU did. He must only associate you with good experiances. After all if you want him to respond well to recall then he must find you more fun to be with than whatever it is that's distracting him. Best of luck.
  15. Best of luck with him. I've just found myself putting more and more time into my dog and it's really paying off. Great fun as well. Best of luck in yorks.
  16. You've no idea how much I wish I could take him. Best of luck finding a home for him. Some body elses gain. Does he take all game once it's been shot?
  17. I'm not a big fan either. That said they do work and work well. But they have to be used as a last resort and only with a lot of thought before hand as to how you are going to use it and when to use it. I had a dog that would not stop chasing sheep. Tried all usual metods and the old fashioned methods. Put him in with a ram, didn't work. Put him in with ewe and lamb, didn't work. Put him in with the bigest Texel ram that I could find, didn't work. Trust me that ram gave him some pounding, but the little shit was chasing sheep next time the opertunity was put in fromt of him. As a last resort I
  18. Good advice being given hear so I'd recommend you use it. As for the electric collar I would not use this divice for something like this. Maybe to stop stock chasing as a very last resort but not for recall training. He must always want to return to you so encoragement rather that punishment for now if I were you. Best of luck.
  19. That's terrible, you must have been shocked and stunned. Did you have to make his bed with a cricket bat. Dirty little sod.
  20. Is that proper TERAMYCIN spray as In antibiotic spray? I tried to get hod of some but you need a perscription. I can get the gentium violet and purple spray no probs but not the antibiotic Go to the vets and explain that you need it for your working dogs. If they say no, because they want you bring it in so they can charge you more, then see if a farmer friend can get it for you. They may need to put a holding or flock/herd number to each can dispenced. Good luck.
  21. Yep brilliant stuff. Also a product called Alamiacin. Same product different supplier. You can get it in a spray or as a jab straight into the mussle. Lasts 5 days, good stuff. Also once you have breached the bottle it still keeps for a year or so, so it's shelf life is much better than penacillin based products. I use it for the sheep as well and the vets use it on all mamals.
  22. How about Lewis. After Lewis Hamilton. He's pretty quick and is the latest kiddie in town. Also has a promising career ahead of him.
